I know this is more for the SEC board, but I can’t sign in there for some reason. My real question is how many times Saban has lost in Tuscaloosa?
Texas 2023
LSU 2019
Ole Miss (with Hugh Freeze?)
Auburn (with Cam Newton?)

Anymore? I count 4. That Texas win may have been a significant turning point.

NIL has leveled the playing field. No more juggernaut Bama teams. Bama will still be very good each year, just not 12-14 wins every year good.

I've heard that several times.

I'll believe it when a result like this becomes more common.

I think this will be Saban’s last year. His “process” is to recruit highly and develop a team of 4 year nfl players, not to cater to transfers coming in and out, and boosters to help with NIL to try to keep up with Georgia and the Texas oil money coming into the conference.
Trust me, someone like Saban hates what cfb is becoming.

But do all of those guys stick around?

Jojo Earle
Aaron Anderson
Drew Sanders, etc.

Bama has been losing guys to the portal/NIL elsewhere.

I’m concerned that LSU will not be able to keep up NIL deals with the likes of Bama, Texas, Georgia, and Aggies.

Uh, are you not an LSU fan? Or maybe just hate Les Miles?

Sometimes easy to forget he started at Bama in 2007.

LSU 2007
LSU 2011

So the list is 9 times in 17 seasons, never twice in a season except his first in 2007 (3).

Georgia 2007
LSU 2007
ULM 2007
Auburn 2010
LSU 2011
AtM 2012
Ole Miss 2015
LSU 2019
Texas 2023

ETA: A bit of trivia, until Texas this season, ULM was the only OOC team to beat a Saban lead Alabama team in Tuscaloosa.

Thank you! I’m an LSU fan with a bad memory. But this list makes me happier.

The beginning of the end has started already no one wants to admit it. If you need an actual starting milestone I would say failing to win a national title with a heisman winner at QB would be it. He is now 2 & 4 in his last 6 games against former assistants.

That is a remarkable stat, just like the rest of his other stats.

I would not be surprised if he calls it quits at the end of the season, or maybe at the end of 2024. He's old, he looks tired, he already accomplished what nobody else has, he's loaded $$$ and he bought a mansion in Jupiter Beach. He's just wasting a happy retirement time IMO.

They have lost more than two games only once since 2007. It’s week 2. They could easily rattle off more wins and end up in the SEC Championship.

Attrition is part of the process. Those that can excel in a Saban environment stick around. Those that don’t excel try somewhere else.

Just like at LSU. How many players match their hype after leaving LSU?

Makes one wonder if Saban is wise enough to step down before it gets ugly? Many coaches and athletes do not have the wisdom to retire before they struggle. Maybe he does.
