Playing A&M during the BCS era has been devastating for Texas. In 2008, we went in to the Aggie game as the #2 team in the nation. We trashed the Aggies 49-9 on national TV but the BCS ranking of the Aggies sucked so bad that it dropped Texas to #3 and out of the national title picture.
Dude, you are trying to muddy-up the facts in the 2008 OU-UT-TTech three-way tie. Let's recall the facts...
how to use head-to-head in a three-way-tie:
- Texas beat OU so I'll rank the Longhorns highest
- but TTech beat Texas so I'll rank the Red Raiders highest
- but OU destroyed TTech beat so I'll rank the Sooners highest
- but Texas beat OU so I'll rank the Longhorns highest
- but TTech beat Texas so I'll rank the Red Raiders highest
- but OU destroyed TTech beat so I'll rank the Sooners highest
- but Texas beat OU so I'll rank the Longhorns highest
- but TTech beat Texas so I'll rank the Red Raiders highest
- but OU destroyed TTech beat so I'll rank the Sooners highest
hmm… ok, I better consider other factors:
-- road win is better than neutral win which is better than home win (OU>UT>TT)
-- margin of above "tie-causing" victories (44 points, 10 points, 6 points) -- (OU>UT>TT)
-- strength of schedule (possibly a "tie", possibly OU>UT)
-- wins over other conference champions (OU beat Cincy)
-- wins over ranked OOC opponents (OU beat TCU & Cincy)
-- most recent performances (possibly a "tie", possibly OU>UT)
-- who had most recent loss? 2nd most recent? (OU>UT>TT)
wow, this is tough! all three have a case!!

You blew your diatribe with that gem. Texas outbid? Texas has more money than half the SEC teams combined.
Think you missed the point. Texas thinks they are above what goes on in the SEC. They might not be willing to go to the lengths SEC schools sometimes do (sorry again, but I am trying to be honest here).
If you do not see or take my point, that is ok too, but I believe that is part of the equation.

I have the facts correct. After all 3 teams from the 3-way tie played each others Texas was still #2 in the BCS........THEN Texas beat A&M 49-9 and fell to #3, that is what playing A&M at the end of the season does for you.
As for all of this garbage about Texas wanting to be in control or be special.......people use issues like revenue distribution, partial qualifiers, moving the Big 12 conference title game to TX and moving the Big 12 offices to Texas to back up these claims. The revenue distribution method of the Big 12 was unanimously selected by all Big 12 members.....the other issues were all 11-1 votes (Neb as the lone dissenter every time). Texas didn't control the Big 12, in fact the conference was pretty unified.....

The reason UT falls in the BCS rankings is not the A&M, it because your conference and schedule sucks.
You play two games a year OU and an strong OOC opponent, yet you blame A&M?
Come to the SEC where there are 4 to 6 top 25 teams to plan on your schedule each year.
MAN UP UT!!!!

This. I have nothing against UT, but their path to the BCS is practically a joke. Generally about 1 legit road game per year.

Tamu will be able to sell the sec to kids I see them bringing more competition to the recruiting battle

Nobody said UT can't compete in the SEC.
We said you're a bunch of spoiled, elitist pussies who don't want to get grass stains on your khaki pants, so you're going to play croquet with the hippies out west instead of playing mother fricking FOOTBALL with the big boys.
No one is mad at UT for being pussies. We're just calling you what you are.
Good stuff!!

Then why wouldn't UTx wan't to play in SEC where odds are great you'd play a higher ranked team towards the end?
Maybe 'caue it wouldn't matter after 3 losses already incurred during the grind of conf play?
UTx might still draw WSU or similar for late season game in Pac16 anyway.

The over-whelming majority of Texas fans, and the university bigwigs, want A&M to go their own way.
seems impossible to believe - if that were true Texas wouldn't have led the nerdrage parade to stop playing A&M forever more
Seriously? Pick up your toys and go home? That's just dumb - stop playing one of your few truly significant and extremely profitable games because they didn't do what you wanted?
Texas - you are the crazy ex girlfriend that A&M just dumped

You also know that any conference with Texas, OU and USC is pretty damn hard to win.
Wow, three teams.
Enter: Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, etc etc etc.

Texas would not call any shots in the SEC and would not be special in any way. They would be one of another half dozen powerhouse teams that all have HUGE athletic budgets and money to burn
I think this is by far the biggest reason TU won't come to the SEC. A distant second is they won't be near as competitive year in and year out.

I don't have a single Texas or A&M friend here in Waco that wants to go to the Pac 10.
Not a single one.
My son at OU doesn't know a single soul in Norman that wants to go to the Pac 10.
They all want SEC.
It is a bit interesting to see schools go against their fans.

Glad somebody posted that. I remember when the Big10 thought they would rule the world forever. Same with the Pac10. Same with the Big 8. Same with ND.
The SEC should take note, it won't last as long as you think it will; it never does.
Except this is the new era of college football. You think Urban Meyer and Nick Saban and the rest of the coaches in the SEC are going to jump ship to the PAC 16 or the Big whatever? These guys aren't scared of anything and will do whatever it takes to win, as will the universities backing them....which is how they got where they are.
It's amazing the stance that some Texas fans are taking. It has nothing to do with aTm hurting UT's strength of schedule. If this were the case, UT would nut up and have scheduled an SEC school besides Arkansas out of conference. UT will likely get what they deserve...a few losses a year due to playing long road games and late night games. Can't wait for the sweet justice that will come.

I love Texas fans making a SoS argument, so they are going to make their schedule, wait for it:
Arizona
ASU
Texas Tech
Okie St
Colorado
Kansas/Baylor/Utah
one random school from the Pac-8
OU
Wow. That is such a daunting murderer's row. How will you ever manage?

murderer's row indeed
will probably be a better midmajor conference overall most years
Although OU, Texas, and Stanford should be good

what the hell is all this BCS talk about... after the Big12 and Big East collapse the BCS will not exist.
How does one school hurting your BCS ranking have to do with it when you are going to join ANOTHER conference with more pathetic teams than even average ones?
after USC goes down with the hiring of kiffen and the sanctions you will be in the same shape as you were in the Big 12.. OU and UT every year.
*meant for our UT poster not you molu.

Keep saying that Texas is afraid of the SEC and whatever else makes you feel good. Deep down, you guys know Texas has a damn good program and can play with anyone. You also know that any conference with Texas, OU and USC is pretty damn hard to win.
Name one good reason why we shouldn't think that Texas is a bunch of gapping vaginas. One that doesn't involve A&M. And those are the only 3 teams that are hard to win against. You are afraid of the SEC since yall have only been sodomized by them this decade.
