re: Thank you Petrino

Broyles, Holtz, Hatfield. I’ve been a fan for a long time think Arkansas should be a player again in football
And I liked Nutt to a degree; Gus was always in it for Gus. Petrino was fun for a time
But I’m tired of the ‘Lille old Arkansaw’ BS. And I loathe the acceptance of mediocrity. There are many who seem to have lower aspirations than Ole Miss. How does that happen? Unbelievable.
And which respectable team would have tons of fans lathered up to give the HC gig to an interim who has gone winless? Only Arkansas and only because the inferiority complex runs so deeply now in the fan base.
It’s sad really.
Our family moved from Arkansas to Waco in 1967 and I have 3 degrees from Texas schools. I was CONSTANTLY in scraps growing up because I was a hog fan and we generally kicked the crap out of all teams other than Texas. But now…Baylor, SMU, Tech and TCU seem to have higher opinions of their FB programs than we do.
So yeah, I’m ready to move on from the past in all of its forms and hope that the program grows balls again and that the fans get over the SEC Stockholm syndrome mindset that has infected people. The pearl-clutching ninnies who think we should be happy with 6 wins a season.
Rev you seem like a nice guy but we deserve better than Petrino and I’m not sure why you can’t see that. He failed the audition.

I’m not sure if Golesh will bring us back to glory or not, but I’m excited that the Nutt/Gus/BMFP obsessions might finally be behind us.

College FB is a business, and the model of that business has changed immeasurably over that past few years. CEO styles evolve as well. Nobody would hire Jack Welch in todays climate.
I wanted Bobby to succeed when he took over as interim HC; I truly did. But unfortunately the only objective evidence of his potential for success as the future full time HC in the CURRENT college FB model is his performance as interim this year. And he has failed the test.
Some of you long for the halcyon days of Bobby tearing through the league; I do too. I just see no evidence that old Bobby would be successful in the new college game.
The bigger problem is the current Uof A admin and BOT. How Hunter still has a job is beyond me given the systematic destruction of the FB program under his watch. The fact that he has not tells me that the PTB at Arkansas truly don’t care about Razorback Fb.

I don’t understand how anyone believes that BMFP has earned the permanent

If only the game were only 11 minutes.
After the first 11 our offense has been completely inept.

If Bobby gets it, I’ll be cautiously optimistic or even happy.
I just think it’s time to move on and find one great candidate we can all rally around.

I was really excited when BP took over and was hoping he would earn the position. To my mind he has not.
My main concern is with the offense.
I remember back in 2010 against Bama I’m Fayetteville. We had them on the ropes in the first half but Saban adjusted his defense and shut us down. And when the game was truly on the line in the 4th, we had no answers offensively.
I believed then as I do now that he has a great offensive mind but that sometimes other defensive coaches figure him out at the half and then shut us down.
I think that kind of thing is happening to us with even more frequency now.
Obviously the Sugar bowl was an exception.
So yeah, I think we need someone a bit more nimble offensively with a better feel for halftime adjustments. Add this to the concerns with his personality and lack of booster support and I don’t think he’s the guy.
I have no desire to get into any spats and none of you know me, but that’s my opinion on the matter.
And one more thing… it’s time to move in from Hootie, Gus, and BMFP
The program needs a fresh start. Sometime life is like that.

I’m all good with giving him the job as long as three things can be confirmed:
1) are the big money folks willing to fund BP to assemble a team?
2) can he assemble a great staff or is his reputation too damaged?
3) independent of NIL, will talented players want to join the program with BP in charge? That’s not just an NIL question, because the dollar offers to players are similar between programs and the kids then choose based on other intangibles
To me that’s what if bios down to because he can damn sure still coach

Not allowed to hire Gus or anyone tied to Gus
Jerry not allowed to help identify next coach
ADs job security directly tied to FB coach success
No new contract negotiations after only one year of success
Prior ties to the state of Arkansas will be seen as a detriment in the vetting process

My daughter was there at Mystic for 5 years. My wife was a camp nurse during the same period. The Eastland family are lovely folks; Dick was wonderful. The loss is incalculable to say the least. It’s the topic of conversation all day. Every day. Mystic is a magical place that cannot be replaced or replicated.

This is a nightmare and it’s wonderful that they are helping.
My wife was a nurse at Mystic several years when my daughter attended. When she was 8, she stayed in the cabins that were hit the hardest by the flooding. With another set of circumstances this could have hit our family.
I’ve been thinking “there but by the grace of his god…” all weekend. Our hearts ache for those families

Oropharyngeal cancers are now predominantly HPV mediated. Unless you think your kid will never give/receive oral sex, you might want to reconsider

The majority of the difference boils down to us paying less for a defensive coordinator. I have no idea if the new guy is going to work or not, but paying out of 1.85M for that atrocious defense is both unsustainable and unforgivable.
I really don’t understand A&M fans talking down to OU fans.
A&M has never been a superior program in comparison to OU. One recruiting class does not make you a national power.
My God, Aggie fans are insufferable.

27-10 dogs.
Aggie has a quick, physical D. Some of the slow-developing Briles plays might not work. We’ll see if we can make adjustments. KJ needs to have a great passing day.
I think our D is going to get burned more than once
I love Pittman refuse to totally buy in until we beat Aggie

I have indeed read the book; good stuff. But not good enough to wipe away those old terrible memories from 1969… :banghead:
