Texas AM is either staying in Big 12 or going SEC. There is no PAC 10 for AM and if this Texas TV deal is what they claim then Texas AM may just walk. It seems clear that Texas AM is very comfortable coming to the SEC. If AM comes then that might help get some other big 12 schools to come.

If AM comes to the SEC the big 12 is done? True or False

I'd say true

Texas would say it's all A&M's fault and then jump to the PAC (assuming OU is still their lap dog)

It looks like the Big XII-2 is trying to buy Texas back in this thing. If I'm aTm and it's not every red penny the other dudes are gettin', I'm out.

Why?

If you offer admission to a school, then you've offered admission. You just can't go and say, "Sorry, we've changed our minds." It's just not ethical. Besides, it's called breach of a verbal contract.

No, it's not.

My question is - even if Aggy does come out of this looking like the bad guys.....who cares?

I doubt it's breach of contract. It's an offer, A&M hadn't accepted the offer, and the SEC is free to rescind the offer before acceptance. That said, I do think it would look shady. Let's stay on the level, we made an offer because we want A&M. It's a big decision, we can wait a week.

I dont think Texas is in a position of strength anymore. With Texas AM seeing stability in the SEC and the opportunity to screw Texas for dragging everyone in the Big 12 into this mess, they can play spoiler now. Leaving Texas with the Pac 10 (which may be what they want) instead of all the options they previously had. Oklahoma and Oky St. could bolt with AM when its all said and done.

the key figure that doesn't realize they have as much power as they do is OU

Texas has showed their hand - they want the PAC

A&M has showed their hand - they want teh SEC

If OU were to go to the SEC then Texas moving to teh PAC would seem less appealing by far to teh Texas base - they would be left with little in the way of nationally significant games... Who knows it might even be enough to make Texas seriously consider going to teh SEC

If A&M wants to come to the SEC, they can do it and still look like the good guys. All they have to do is say that they will only stay in the Big 12 if the payouts are equal for everyone. It will say that they are looking out for all conference members, rather than just themselves, and places the pressure back squarely on the steers.

Since there is no way that Texas would agree to this, A&M looks great in the public eye while making Texas look like a douche. To top it all off, they get what they wanted to begin with.

At the very least it would give them a much better deal in the Tentative 10. I don't understand why OU has been so passive throughout this process.

Supposedly the most recent deal in Big12-2 is that A&M, UT and OU get lion's share of revenue from conference in equal amounts and rest get the rest. The number for those 3 is rumored to be in $20M plus while everyone else gets $15M or so.

A&M should tell texas and them that they should get equal to TU and OU that they should get equal or they are gone.

Under the plan I saw rumored, the big 3 would get same. The other 7 would split the rest. How would you suggest A&M handle that one? Clearly Texas is trying to paint A&M into corner as the bad guy who broke up the conference. It has to be galling UT to give equal footing to A&M and OU for the first time. It does however put A&M in precarious position. I'm not sure how you get out of that corner if you are A&M if you don't want to be accused of splitting conference and you want Texas to be seen for what they are.
