West schools who does TAMU help or hurt?
Helps Arky and LSU
No change UA and Auburn
Hurts MSU and Ole Miss
Gives Arky and LSU a natural rival in TX, not much effect on Bammer or Auburn but another quality team sets MSU and Ole Miss back

i think adding them will ensure that no SEC team will ever be left out of the MNC - it strengthens the overall schedule.

We are in the 3rd year of a 10 year deal with them in Dallas. I do not see this changing much for us.

It changes a lot for LSU and Arkansas.

The Big 12 has been the only major conference with a lot of pub in the state of Texas for a long while now. With aTm joining the SEC, it will become another part of the country that will get every SEC game during the season. The lower telvised games will now be able to be seen there, where as before you got the regional Big 12 games in that part of the country.

This will help recruiting a lot IMO. I think it will actually hurt aTm in the long run.

I don't think it changes much as it is. BUT, if we end up adding 3 more shitty teams just like them, it's going to start hurting our strength of schedule and overall conference perception that we've worked so hard to get. I don't want to go back to the not so distant past where an undefeated SEC team might not make the title game.

Just don't lose to Boise. I would take a leave of absence if you lose that game.

im actually interested to see how aggy acts when they go to ole miss.

it will be a interesting clash of nazi/farm boys vs the frat guys and hot girls of ole miss.

i could see the aggies trying to steal that frats goat and doing things to it.

the only thing it changes in the sec west is that it adds another scrap dog scrabbling around at the bottom of the heap for the leftovers most years...some years, they, like ole' miss will sneak up on someone and be a spoiler.

what does concern me is if they keep their yearly date with texas and texas continue to dominate the series...that will drag the sec rep down a little.

Don't worry we have plenty of frats here :). Seriously though I think this move benefits everyone. There will be more money for everyone, and new markets. A&M will be able to effectively brand itself by being in the SEC, and our recruiting will get even better. Will Arkansas and LSU get more Texas recruits? Perhaps, but there are plenty to go around in this state. Being the only SEC school in Texas will do wonders for us.

Great move for the long run. Yes, we have been bad in football this past decade, but hasn't every program faced a downtime before? Oklahoma went through it, Texas went through it, Alabama, Florida, etc. Every program has had a period where they are not performing to their best ability. College football works in cycles. Ask any longhorn about the 80s and 90s. No wonder they never want us to have any sort of success in football ever again, because we owned them, and the SWC. All you need are the right coaches. A&M is on the rise. Mike Sherman took a lot of shite, but all he has been doing is building a foundation. All those freshman that played his first year are seniors now. For God's sake he actually recruits offensive linemen!! Dennis Franchione was the worst thing that happened to A&M football (you are welcome Bama). He recruited something like 2 offensive lineman in a 3 year span....

Coaches leave A&M for Alabama, not the other way around. Should have known that in December of 2002.

I think A&M is a nice addition to the conference. They are a solid program that you don't have to worry about being a severe recruiting and on the field threat like an FSU would be. I look at them as being the equivalent of a Georgia joining the SEC West. A solid to strong program that historically underachieves but has the resources and money to win at a high level. The move is a huge favor to A&M though. I think differentiating themselves in a state like Texas will have very positive effects on their recruiting.

Nobody here really gives a s###, but I think A&M has the money to be a lucrative academic research partner to some or all of the SEC schools. I think schools with an ag/engineering focus like Auburn and Miss State and LSU to a lesser extent could benefit research wise by collaborating with A&M. You can joke about some of A&M's odd traditions but they have an a##load of money and they generate a lot of research money.
