I still don’t think LSU should owe him anything, even if LSU wants him out.

But that’s just me.. should either retain him another season or let him walk. Oh well

Sounds like a legit termination for cause to me with no buyout attached.

Is this something that has been discussed on here or known by people with sources in the know?

I mean for Ed Orgeron. Canada has grown on me.

No, pretty serious. Wait, are you telling me that you think O is a more qualified coach than Canada?

If Canada is gone, it had better not be Ensminger. The only acceptable result of Canada leaving is to bring in Freeze or baby Briles.

Ensminger would be a Lou Tepper/Cam Cameron type result, I.e. getting the HC fired.

It's a ridiculous discussion to even have. There is literally no scenario where Orgeron would leave and Canada would stay.

Add Sterlin Gilbert and you've got a strong list

IF that would happen Canada’s would be gone. Aranda is not a fan of his at all.

You are likely correct but we can dream

The O experiment will become a part of LSU sports history that will be discussed for generations

16-5 isn’t too bad. O is doing well so far. Next season will tell us a lot about LSU’s direction

Have you read the for cause termination provisions of his contract?

Momma apparently did not raise a "thinking man"

Canada hates O. O hates Canada.

Not the case, they actually get along fine on a personal level, there is some tension but that is expected

quote:

LSU will not pay Canada $3 million just to get rid of him.Canada will not leave $3 million on the table just to leave.

No but if he finds an acceptable position at another school that can make it close, both sides would probably offer little resistance and LSI would ask for $150 or 200k from the next school.

quote:

Both sides are working to try to find a landing spot for Canada.

False this is just idiotic where do you come up with this, LSU is in no way looking for a coach that is preparing for a bowl game and after one year trying to find a "soft" landing spot for an OC that has been here less than a year.

quote:

So far though, options are very limited

Very insightful, but he could find a QB coach job or RB job in the midwest fairly easily, albeit a big paycut.

quote:

Outcome 1: Canada gets another job making less and LSU pays the difference. So instead of a $3 million buyout maybe it's half

Nope

quote:

Outcome 2: Canada can't find a job so he stays one more year and all year is undermined by O having Ensminger run the offense with Canada just sitting around as a lame duck.

Benefits not a single person if he stays for him to be a lame duck.
