Woodward sure likes to overpay...

I'm not saying O didn't deserve a raise and Pelini should have been cheap but we're now basically in the exact position of A&M contract wise.
LSU is locked in and have no wiggle room should things go south.
Unlike A&M, LSU has been trending up majorly, but I don't like not having flexibility. Then again, I didn't like the O hire and had never heard of Brady as a Saints fan, so I don't know shite.

Except we have a national championship.
A&Ms contract situation wouldn’t look bad if they had won a national championship during Jimbos first couple years

There’s not a salary cap, you know
It’s not your money and this is coming from a season ticket holder

I get what you’re saying to a point but you had to pay O after 2019, we still don’t know what the buyout is so no need to overreact to that.
And while I have some reservations about Bo, we could do a LOT worse, Kevin Steele is making 2.5 now, how can we justify going on the cheap?

At this point, you just have to put trust that O knows what he's doing.
No there's no salary cap, but if that small chance happens that O just caught lighting in a bottle with Burrow/Brady ala Cam/Chizik, there's no getting out now.

There is hardly a realistic scenario where we are cleaning house in less than 5 years anyway.

Get back to cleaning the gym floor and let the business men work. Bo Pelini was making 1.8 million in March of 2019.

You’re the kind of fan that drives me nuts. Program made around $200 mil. Last year and you’re upset that we’re paying to try and continue breeding success. This Shite cost money. Woodward has the purse strings he understands the budget MUCH better than any of us. If he and O thought that it was a good number, then it probably was.

These aren't equal.
Chizik with Newton/Malzahn would be more appropriately said to compare to O with Burrow/Brady.

You seem to be forgetting that the SEC is about to bust the bank with a new TV package with Disney/ABC. Going to be a huge pot of money to be split among the SEC schools.

Still cheaper than the loser at atm.

We have no idea what Pelini’s buyout is or even the length of his contract. Knowing O it wouldn’t shock me if we have a pretty easy way out of it.
As for O himself....I mean yeah he could be the next czezik. But you have to pay him after the season he just had. And just like Miles the season O just had pretty much buys him five years absent a just utter implosion.

The money is there. Where do you want it to go?
The football program is printing fricking money. If we don't pay it to football coaches, then it will get wasted elsewhere. I would rather see the money spent where it is earned.

Can you post a link to Jimbo's contract and then Os and Pelinis? I like to compare them in microsoft word.

Is O a top 10 coach ? If he is, he is being paid right at or a little below market value.
Bo has produced top players and defenses at both the NFL and College levels. Dorsey and Suh both developed under his coaching, along with many other NFL caliber players. The worst thing you can say about Bo is that he called Nebraska out when the fans and administration criticized him for winning 9-10 games per year. One of the statements called the fans “fairweather” and “let’s see how they do after I leave”. He was correct on both statements. I personally think that he is a much better defensive coordinator then he has a head coach. He’s definitely more suited to be a coordinator than a head coach. The players and recruits will absolutely love him

Do we know what the buyout is on O’s new deal?

There is literally no such thing as "overpaying". If you get results, no price was too high. If you fail, no bargain was good enough. This is a zero sum game.
