Besides being friends with Ed O, what do you think the draw for him to come to LSU is? I would think if he was going to bounce it would be for a HC job. What does it benefit him to move laterally?

Umm.....I donno, bring the highest paid OC in the country? Maybe jumping over to LSU and possibly winning a championship. Would look real good on a resume for a big time coaching position.

I think he makes 1.4 mil this year. When your talking about that kind of money not much difference between that and 2 mil considering it would be like starting over.

He's already won one, could win another this year and maybe a 3rd next with what Bama has coming back.

He's already had a couple of big time coaching positions.

Proving his success was his own and not Saban's. Proving he has his shite together personally, and not only because he is controlled by Saban.

IMO, when Saban got snarky with his that was an arse chewing comments about Lane, it can't have sat well with Lane. Saban was acting like he was Lane's daddy.

Thank you for coming to an lsu board and trying to convince lsu fan's about bama superiority. the fact you are on a lsu board discussing kiffin, tells me you aren't 100% sold he's staying.

Tosh Lupoi is Tua's main recruiter, not Lane.
He'll be at Alabama in January.

This is laughable. So he has worked the last 3 years with, what some of you say, is the hardest coach to work for and yet he is going to go coach with his buddy to show the world he has his crap together. Why wouldn't he just go somewhere where he doesn't have any connections and show the world that?

Do you guys even think about what you are saying before you type it out?

Money and continued publicity. If he gets a great HC offer or NFL offer, that's where he's going. No one is that good of a friend. But if he doesn't, LSU will almost certainly throw more at him to be an OC than anyone else will. And going from Bama to LSU will generate a lot of offseason press and hype around him. That's a ready-made click bait bonanza.

With the hype and the eyeballs that come with that, if he lights a fire under a second SEC West offense in one season, he has schools lining up waving money at the end of next year. Of course, this is also the big downside for us.

I agree with the Gumps on their take.. it makes logical sense. I want Canada. But logic got thrown out the window in 2016.. Who knows anymore.

This is a huge reach. Offensive talent has never been the problem at LSU and Kiffin excels in our two biggest weak spots- QB play, and difficulties in creating easy ways to get the ball into the hands of play-makers. He's the kind of guy who can make sense of our island of misfit toys and turn them into something.

So the fact that Kiffin is about to have 2 of the best QBs in the country to work with, tells you he is going to l6u?

At LSU, so yes. We about to go on a 5 year SEC championship run. We working on the trophy cases now.

And if he doesn't, his career is essentially over. But, if he stays at Bama, he'll have a qb coming back with the potential to win a Heisman and maybe even a 3rd NC in 4 years. You don't think that will have enough eyeballs on it?

I could be completely wrong and will admit so if he leaves for LSU, but I think the ONLY way he leaves Bama if for a HC job. Saban gave him an opportunity to reinstate himself in the coaching community and I think Kiffin owes him as much not to make a lateral move. Saban has always had this stance with his assistants.

The list of things you guys have claimed and been wrong about is eons longer than the things you've been right about. That's got to be frustrating by now.

So every coach who Bama gave their 2nd (and possibly last) chance in CFB is going to show their gratitude by bailing on Bama and going to coach at LSU?

You'll likely get Kiffin. He wasn't coming back to Bama next year any way. There is a reason he's the only coach on staff who doesn't have a contract beyond this year. You'll pay him close to $2M, which Bama could match, but won't. There is a reason Sark is on staff at Bama.

why would an assistant give a frick about helping a guy he doesn't like win NC's? If you think Kiffin is ok with getting reamed out on the sidelines you're crazy.

Honestly, this is a fun pipe dream for LSU fans. It would be pretty exciting if somehow it all happened. Hell at this point with Alabama dominating so hard, I think it would be good for the SEC if Kiffin went to LSU and brought Tua with him. Unlikely to happen, but it would at least bring lifeblood back into Alabama vs. LSU.

Do you think this is the 1st time this has happened? Have you ever been chewed out by your boss? Did you quit? I always thought fans of LSU were a little more thick skinned than what I've seen on this board? That's seems like the #1 reason you guys think he will leave. Does that mean Coach O will not be able to speak his mind if he thinks Lane strays off the tracks? Can't be mean to poor wittle Kiffin.
