Nope, I think Petersen is the better coach. I’m happy with either.
Eta: just happy to finally have a coach that isn’t a potato, either way. LSU with a skilled coach to match it’s level of skilled athletes is going to send the gump midget to retirement a lot sooner.

I think this narrative is tired. Could be he wasn’t the first choice but was a very solid 1b that we pivoted to. He’s retired so it may have required some recruiting. Then you negotiate salary, staff (who stays who goes etc.). Also, can’t verify this but someone posted that part of the deal with O was no announcement until season end.

I would incredibly pissed because of how stupid it was not to put Peterson in place immediately ASAP after firing the buffoon.

The fact that LSU hasn't thrown cold water on all this Riley smoke tells you all you need to know. LSU knows how bad it would look to have the entire fanbase hoping for a big whale like this and then have it all be a lie. If they had any doubts about Riley they'd be leaking to random people that they'd interviewed other candidates to make it look we just didn't put all our eggs in one basket. The fact that we have put all our eggs in one basket means we were told yes by Riley pretty early on

I don't think it's Petersen, but when's the last time a program announced a coaching hire while the current coach was still coaching in the regular season?

He could be announced, and he could come on board in some capacity and start working on his staff, but finding assistants while the season os still going on is a little iffy. There could also be reasons he isn't announced, maybe he doesn't want to be yet. At this point, you can tell recruits who is going to be the coach. I don't know what the rules would be on him contacting recruits because he is a TV guy right now.I would love to have him, but it's not him. I know we have our guy, and I'm pretty sure that it's Riley.

I heard it was a fox contract for Petersen to work through, and an NCAA violation to hire a coach while a coach is still in place for the same position.
