Will Muschamp, looking for a new OC at #Florida, meeting w/ #Duke OC Kurt Roper this AM. Roper was a Broyles finalist this yr.

Interesting choice...

Worked out pretty well for UF the last time they hired a coach from Duke

Roper has coached at Ole Miss with David Cutcliffe , at Tennessee as RBs coach in 06/07, and at Kentucky in 05 as QBs coach.

Duke's offense with Roper in 2013 was ranked 47th in the country.

Good. We need the mighty Dook football team distracted as much as possible.

I was about to post that it really doesn't matter who we hire our former rivals will shite on it.

I love it.

Not to offend you UF guys but, this is a very bad situation. If Uf is seriously looking at OC's from Duke then, you have been turned down by a lot of other quality coordinators.

I see no way that Boom is going to be able to turn this situation around in one season, especially given your schedule next year.

Foley should have fired Muschamp and started over. He's ultimately going to have to do it anyway.

It's Cutcliffes offense, not Ropers. Might be a big hire, might be meh

Can't you say that about every OC that coaches under an offensive minded coach or just about every one?

It was going to be tough to find an OC in Boom's situation. I'm not sure Chip Kelly would be interested in being the OC at FL this year.

I've accepted that this hire is not going to wow anyone but I'm sane most of the time.

He'll have his year to improve or he'll be gone with Boom whoever is hired to be our OC. It's pretty simple.

Might be a decent coach but what you might make up in that department you'll lose in recruiting. Not a very good recruiter.

Is Tim Beck, Nebraska's OC still on the list?? Read elsewhere that he was a possibility...

If we score over 30 points against Idaho in the 2014 opener, I'll be sold.

This, and I'm a bit surprised he doesn't promote Joker. Joker was a pretty good OC, just an awful HC.

I was pretty happy with how Joker developed the WRs this year.

I'm not opposed to him being the OC.

Oh really? Pease was a fricking terrible recruiter, so I doubt there would be any drop off. In fact, you can't recruit worse than Pease did at UF.

This. After listening to Roper speak he's already better than Pease just from personality alone.

1. Acquire large sums of money
2. Throw at Chad Morris until he accepts
3. Win the SEC East next year

Is Roper actually involved with the technical aspects of QB development? (or is it Cutcliffe?) that seems to be the most important thing.

We have large sums of money but will not be throwing it at Chad Morris. He makes way too much and Foley has never paid that much for coordinators save for the Fat feller now at Kansas and I don't see him doing that again.

No matter who we hire, the very esteemed and knowledgeable folks of the SECR will have something snide to say. It doesn't really matter.
