I thought Dabo was the 'next' Alabama head coach, assuming he wanted it?
That style of play would not fit Bama. The state produces great interior lineman and superb athletes to play DB. You will never see an offense like Clemson's at Bama. Last year was pretty close but not a true zone read attack.
honestly, I know no one that even talks about Dabo being next.

Exactly. The ONLY reason he isn't the coach is because he didn't want to be. LSU then asked themselves who they could get that would be any better. There was one alternative once Jimbo said nah. I would question what Jimbo said initially because it made LSU look bad and put them in a pickle. What was Alleva supposed to do when Fisher expresses interest then decides I'm fine at FSU? Pretty bush move by Fisher but make no mistake. It was Fisher's had he wanted it.

Les will not make it through 2016 much less 3-4 years.
He is too hard headed to do what it takes to make LSU better than 8-4(well maybe 9-3 next year if some of our Jr stay).
Also, If LSU really nixed the Jimbo deal this year if I were Jimbo I would tell LSU to stick it next year if they come calling.

except he didn't say no. He said he wanted Saban money and that's when our president balked. Not because we don't have it, or because it wouldn't be the right move, but because he didn't want to listen to legislators asking him about it when the next round of state budget cuts come around.

LSU made Jimbo a very fair offer. Fair enough that enough people close to the situation were absolutely convinced that he was coming to LSU. They would not have been so convinced had word not come directly from Fisher that he was agreeable to the terms. At some point later he changed his mind. I suspect his agent kept coming back with additional demands to which at some point LSU enough is enough. Here's the offer. Take it or leave it. He left it.

Yes, expressing interest to try and get a raise from your current employer. Dick move.

It's really not debatable that Fisher was coming if we gave him $7 million.

100% debatable. There is no solid info that Fisher was even ready to make the jump. Not to mention FSU could have easily matched.

there is on our side. I can't link you conversations I've had with connected people but it was 100% a done deal if we met his terms, which we didn't because the President of the University was worried about appearances in the next round of budget cuts.

Ah, yeah. More "sources."

Dabo or Jimbo would be Bama's next 2 targets.

Jimbo had his bags packed ready to fly to BTR. He was ours. I still stand by the information I was given. It's sickening how it all backfired.

Reading this thread is awesome. LSU so delusional that even when their sources are shown to be wrong they still believe them.

If CLM retires or is fired, so long as Alexander and Alleva are running things then, no, Jimbo won't be our first call. The same issues, perception and money and Alleva's overall incompetence, will be the rule of the day. We'll be hiring a coach on the cheap if they are around, so just hope that they're somehow gone before we have to hire a new coach.

Yep, LSU football is pretty much dead with these guys in charge using this logic for sure.
