Why would Malzahn or Muschamp ever want to coach again??

They are probably doing their happy dance at the prospect of depositing huge checks for several years and having no responsibility.
They don't have to beg 17 year old boys and their mothers to sign.
They don't have to deal with fans.
There is no question once these coaches sign the big contracts they are much more reserve in their recruiting as most contracts have clauses for cause that involve NCAA recruiting violations.

They can't quit doing it. It's what they love to do. They're obsessed with it

They can get a private college or high school or something to satisfy that need.
I know several former college coaches of different sports and only a few miss it when they leave.

You don’t get to be a big time college coach because you want the money. The guys want to go out on top.

Ohh they may be a few that think that but not the majority.
I think are more that want to coach but they can't get their heart back into it with all that money in their pocket. They will take jobs and really never get into them.
Where is Marc Richt? where is Chiz? ect.
Does anyone think Miles is working as hard as he did 10 years ago?

Because it’s tough to go from being the big man on a big stage to not being the big man.

The leverage given to the coaches is insane. They get fired and still get paid $5 million per year for a few years. I understand that programs feel the need to win at all cost, but they have to eventually change the way this has become so out of hand.

Some have contract that forces them to get a job in order to get the full buyout.

Friend,
In the end the fans have given this leverage to the AD to give to the coaches. This unending need to be number one in sports has driven salaries and safeguards like ridiculous buyouts through the roof. What is the real difference between 11-0 and 6-5? Does one say any more or any less about a university? Fans have way too much pride and put far too much self worth into their college team’s sports record. It’s quite comical, really, to see how pathetic entire fan bases have become, making glorified PE teachers their state’s highest paid public official, and that by many times over.
As for me, I haven’t watched a professional or college sporting event in over five years. I do not miss it one bit.
Yours,

The money
Even as a def coord Mushcamp can make a nice salary
Plus I think most contracts have clauses that make it in their best interest to seek new jobs

They're both awful young to just stop being productive.

This.
The biggest misconception about these buyouts are that someone like Malzahn can just sit back and collect buyout checks.
Buyouts are almost wholly predicated on the coach seeking other employment at a level and salary somewhat commensurate with what they were making. Not only does your buyout get offset by your salary at your new job, you could trigger a termination of payment clause if you don't make good faith effort to seek employment. It's the main reason the Razorback Foundation is suing Bret Bielema for basically working in New England under the threshold and not seeking other coaching jobs the first year or so after Arkansas fired him.
