Straight up denying it? They were in the middle of playing for a conference title and possibly a playoff spot and they just let the distraction ride. Instead of squashing it when it started, he decides to wait until 11:00pm following a loss to address it?

Who knows what will happen at this point, but waiting so long to deny the rumors just seems odd to me.

Because he was using LSU/Woodward as leverage to get what he wants for OU.

He comin still. I can’t believe LSU fans are expecting the dude to go up there after a loss and say, yup I’m headed to Louisiana, deuces.

That's the part that I don't get. The time to say what he said was 3 or 4 days ago.

On the flip, why would he wait until this point to deny it? His season is over.

LR wanted the leverage.

LR gets job offers from the nfl every year. He didn’t need the lsu job for leverage especially with the distraction it caused.

If he want this long and let it fester with his team to just now change his mind after they laid an egg in Stillwater. Their AD should fire him.

Their board meeting isn't until Friday and the idea that he let his team get distracted the week before his biggest game of the season seems like a stretch.

It is odd, i believe the Main reason OU lost was because the Riley distractions, odd he didn’t squash the rumors anytime before the game and not after they lose.

Because he was probably interested in becoming the highest paid HC in college football history, but then got a similar offer or whatever he wanted from OU to stay.

I agree with you. Only thing about this that seems plausible is that LR and OU saw this as an opportunity to frick up LSU’s search, and get himself and the program a “raise”, thinking that it wouldn’t be a distraction that could affect this years playoff run. They played LSU, and ended up playing themselves. Whomever is the next coach at LSU will most likely dish out more karma on the Sooners for years to come. And I’m ok with that

There is a big difference between the NFL and what will soon be your conference opponent.

He doesn’t have to, but he could deflect the question. He didnt even let the guy get the question out of his mouth before he flat out said he isn’t coming.

The big wigs don’t need to wait for a board meeting. They knew the rumors were at a fever’s pitch and would have to be addressed. OU caved to the demands

It was never a distraction. The only people talking about it are people on Tiger Droppings and wanna be reporters on Twitter with 50 followers.

That’s a stretch. Every AD, coach, and school know that coaching rumors cause distractions no matter who it is.
