To go play in the SEC West?

Some of the LSU fans have gone coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs thinking he would come to LSU.

He wouldn't be the best hire either. LSU need to find that up and comer that gets the absolute most out of the talent he has. (like when LSU hired Saban.)

that up and comer

I hope LSU fans are ready to be completely whelmed by whoever the new coach is whenever that happens. We're not going to pluck a successful NFL or top power five college coach. Look at where USC, Florida, and Texas all had to go to get their last coaches. Why would here be any different?

Look at where Bama, Michigan and Ohio State got their last coaches. I can play this game too. It's about timing and resources. USC got the guy they wanted in Sark also. Texas sold out and couldn't lure Saban from T-Town and UF is playing for the SEC championship.

i don't think we'll get fisher even if we tried, but what makes you think he wouldn't be the best hire?

is it talent maximization?

recruiting?

in game coaching?

adjustments?

qb development?

results?

not starting an argument, just trying to gauge where you are coming from here.

USC wanted to stay under the Carrol umbrella and got exactly who they wanted.

Florida went under the Saban umbrella and snagged the best well rounded "up and comer" out there. Excellent hire as it shows. And this is all after they got Muschamp who many thought was a HUGE get.

Texas went full retard thinking they could get Saban. At the last minute they pulled Strong who at the time, many believed was the absolute best young coach out there after what he did with Louisville.

Michigan and Ohio State both struck gold on big name hires.

LSU should not be any different if the proper search is conducted.

Jimbo would be an amazing hire, no doubt. I'd just prefer to get a younger coach with something to prove. Jimbo has already accomplished so much as a head coach, I'm afraid the hunger that we need wouldn't be there very long if he was the guy.

From what I've read most are expecting a big time hire.

I don't think that'll happen. I think I'd rather have an up and coming offensive mind.

I want Chip but I know he isn't a fan of recruiting and dealing with boosters etc. However, if he were to it would be at a place like LSU.

He absolutely would be but I agree it's unlikely he'd take the job.

With the talent we have and the talent coming in he wouldn't need to sustain that fire very long before winning a championship.

they did that last time as well, didn't work out so well

that was Michigan's 3rd go around, first two were strike outs

Tennessee has a lost decade

I think I would want LSU's search to be different than a lot of those schools.

There literally is no reason Jimbo would leave FSU to come to LSU.

Would love to land him but the best we do is get him a raise at FSU out of this.

That's very true. Through stars aligning coincidences they all got generational coaches. I hope we get one of those.

I don't know why people link him to LSU. If LSU and Auburn were open at the same time and both wanted Jimbo, I think he picks Auburn. He will definitely leave for Alabama if Saban retires sooner than later and they want him.

SEC west is the toughest place to win. Successful coaches think they are great and like the challenge.
