don't know why people link him to LSU. If LSU and Auburn were open at the same time and both wanted Jimbo, I think he picks Auburn. He will definitely leave for Alabama if Saban retires sooner than later and they want him

I doubt all of that. I think he'd take LSU over Auburn all day and I think it'll take an ego maniac of a coach to want to follow Saban's footsteps in Alabama and try to live up to those expectations.

He's spent so much of his career in Alabama, that I just think Auburn would win out. He was at Auburn twice as long as LSU.

He is not leaving FSU. This is his agent jockeying for a pay raise. It's all BS.

Miles is on hot seat, but Jimbo ain't the guy. It's a trap.

He agreed to an extension 11 months ago so I doubt it's that. It's probably just wishful thinking from LSU fans.

No way Jimbo Fisher leaves FSU for LSU.

The LSU fans talking this up are gonna be disappointed.

He wanted the LSU job after Saban left. He went to FSU, because he didn't get the head coaching job. Why would he chose Auburn over LSU? And he was a QB coach for Auburn for 5 years and OC at LSU for 6... So don't know what you mean by him being at Auburn longer.

i agree with the first part. I don't see why he would come to LSU.

However, I disagree with he wouldn't be the best hire. One thing, recruiting wouldn't miss a beat. He's a relentless recruiter, and he's a very good coach.

That's one cause for concern with these other posters would be if we got a different coach, our recruiting may suffer.
Jimbo would keep the top 5 classes rolling in, and he's coached here. He knows the territory.

If jimbo wanted to actually coach LSU, and he was there for the taking vs. the other candidates out there, jimbo is a no-brainer 1A candidate.

He has the FSU program on a positive track. Why would he??? Not because it's LSU and he has no loyalties here. Besides, he caught flack while he was LSU's OC.

1. To be the best you have to beat the best.
2. More $$$ LSU's athletic budget is ~$24million more than Florida State's.
3. La high school talent without other in state P5 schools to compete with.
4. Why would Tommy Tuberville leave Texas Tech to go to Cincy? Why would Lane Kiffin leave Tenn to go to USC with the NCAA wolves at the door? Why would any coach go to the Raiders? Coaches accept and turn down jobs every year that doesn't make sense to the casual observer. LSU should atleast go after Jimbo, Kelly, Patterson, and any other name they want because you just never know.

ETA: Forgot budget link my bad.

LSU should not be any different if the proper search is conducted.

The problem is the "search" business people keep talking about. You don't fire a guy like Les unless the guy at the top of the three coach wishlist you keep in your desk drawer is absolutely on board. Can Vandy fire Mason and easily find someone who can go in and get the same results? Hell yes. But believe it or not it is not automatic that whoever replaces Les can at least do what he's done. I'm not saying he shouldn't be on the hot seat, because he absolutely should be. He brought that on himself. But man you better have a quality guy waiting in the wings if you are going to pull a trigger like that.

This is how a real decline starts. Fire a coach without a plan. Hire some guy who takes a championship caliber team and goes 5-7, 6-6 or some shite like that and you are stuck with him for two more years after that. I don't think we should be afraid to make a bold move. But it has to be bold and calculated. That shite they are saying about Texas doing whatever it takes to land Nick is the mentality we better have if you are going to fire Les.

Texas sold out and couldn't lure Saban from T-Town

I believe Texas would've had Saban but Mack Brown and his supporters threw a tantrum and torpedoed it.

Would love to land him but the best we do is get him a raise at FSU out of this.

and that's what many of the coaches "expressing interest" are really after.
