Unless you absolutely sucked at the job like Saban? The Harbaugh talk makes no sense to me at all. I just can't imagine wanting to go back and dealing with all of the recruiting nonsense.

Eta: Can yall name some examples of the NFL to ncaa move.

I can see how some may view it as more fulfilling.

But nobody actually leaves.

longer tenure? seems it's easier for CFB coaches to hang on through sub par seasons than NFL coaches

Saban absolutely sucked? He went .500 with one of the worst rosters in the league.

College coach controls his roster, NFL coach does not. That's one reason.

Really, he absolutely sucked at Miami? Made the playoffs his first year, not great his second but he didn't absolutely suck. That's just bitterness flowing through your still sore arse.

Money and being able to cheat for recruits like Saban and Carroll.

Don't know why Harbaugh would do it.

except for money

Harbaugh is really good in the NFL and the team is still getting rid of him because he's an arse. If he's as good in college no school would do that to him.

That phrase doesn't mean what you think it means.

To not get traded to the Jags.

Harbaugh would have to approve any trade.

If he doesn't approve a trade, SF will fire him and then he can go wherever he wants. He's made 3 NFCCG in a row and a Superbowl. NFL teams will be lined up to hire him. I believe that will be more appealing to him than returning to UM and CFB.

Successful NFL coaches don't leave the NFL for college jobs. Just like successful college coaches don't leave college for high school jobs.

pay? elite college HC jobs pay more than most NFL coaching jobs, no matter where you are on the tree

Absolutely sucked may be hyperbole.

But Saban was coming off a regressing 6-10 year. He probably realized that he had bitten off a little too much and got the hell outta there.

The players he drafted weren't having much success either.
