People seriously need to understand NIL better.

LA’s NIL law is strict and specifically forbids anyone in the athletic office or any boosters from directly setting up outside deals for players.

That doesn’t make behind the scenes involvement impossible, but it does make it harder for us than schools in some other states.

Needs to be overhauled like Florida is doing now in legislature. Louisiana has one of the most corrupt political systems in the country surely they can come up with something.

OP - what are you basing “should have been given his papers” on? I’m guessing that it’s just some vitriol you pulled out of your arse hoping to sound knowledgeable. Douche move though… keep doing you!

If he is so good, should we not expect LSU’s NIL structure and system to be efficiently humming along by now?

He technically works for Woodward
No he doesn’t. People take the title too literally in the NFL sense. It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s kept on to help through the transition and is then replaced.

I didn’t notice any difference when he was gone or here. Seems like an old guard guy that should have been given his papers.

Are you in the building? Behind the scenes?

Why the frick do you want someone fired when you don’t have any clue what the hell you’re even bitching about?

Makes no sense to me

Seems very bizarre to have a guy working under a head coach, yet working for the athletic director. Did that dynamic change when he was rehired?

How is this so difficult to understand? Ed was fricking retarded so Woodward brought in his guy and told Ed that he would be "under the head coach." :wink wink:

He had to get someone in the building with organizational competence and Ed knew this was Woodward's guy, not someone he could fire.

Thomas seems to have a pretty stellar reputation nationally with other colleges and with high school coaches. He has played a pretty big role in a few recruitments here over the years and seems to be pivotal to the overall management and organization of future recruiting classes. I think of him as sort of critical infrastructure in IT/Tech terms.

My question, if he is so well respected then why has he jumped around so much?

He's good at his job but he's a known backstabbing snack. Do you remember what happened last time he was at LSU?

While he is good and is respected I wouldn't go that. If that was the case Saban would have done bought and brought him to Alabama, just like he buys everything else.

This fact is lost amongst people for some reason.

Someone that works inside of football ops cannot be the one facilitating NIL deals. This is not a hard concept to grasp people.

I still find it hard to believe that they can forbid any corporation or indvidual, even a booster, from giving to a charity just because that charity may license a players NIL.

Say for example, Louisiana chapter of Red Cross uses Brennan's likeness or a contribution drive poster. Now no LSU booster can give to the Red Cross?

Obviously it is either/or damaging to the charity by depriving them of their contributions or depriving the booster of his first amendment rights (donations are expressions).

But not so obviously, it may be depriving the player of an opportunity because neither the booster or the charity want to get into the obvious box above.

Everybody loses in that scenario.

What’s the word on Mason Smith? Was he hired by Scott too? Seems like he’s a legit recruiter?

AT is way overrated. He and Pomansky were thick as thieves. Doubt it was just a coincidence made we our run while he was bouncing around between TN, Baylor, and A&M. Woody took him back as a favor to Jimmy Sexton once his previous other three other employers saw he was nothing but smoke and mirrors. Besides landing 2-3 recruits from TN his first time through, name 1 thing he’s done since. I’ll hang up and listen.
