Mack Leftwich had the number 11 offense in the country with TJ Finley as QB.

Knows Texas recruiting grounds.

Glen Schumann is due as well

Klein would be good as well

Why wouldn’t we just try to get Tech’s actual HC instead? Tech is playing with a lot of cash in NIL but McGuire is the 51st highest paid head coach in the nation

I’d prefer a guy to lock down one side of the ball.

Maguire has never been a coordinator even at the high school level.

Ryan Day is not a CEO type, he was an offensive coordinator for a long time

The thing is if you hire a young ambitious coordinator as your head coach, there will be a few years of learning on the job. But it’s worked out well for schools like Oregon, Georgia, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. Michigan is still tbd with their OC hire. I think it’s potentially our best chance at finding an elite guy. Because outside of the group of 5, I’m not sure what sitting head coach wants to leave their current good situation and enter something that seems so toxic from the outside.

I oersinallynhae. no issue with a coordinator but some people i know who work in AD say that most schools are going to be looking for experience handling NIL deals and boosters on top of just X’s and O’s.

I want someone who has Been an elite OC/Dc as some point

We'd be real happy with Gus by year 2.

Both have dynamic and creative run games.

We can absolutely make a great hire still, but with Landry’s actions, it’s basically the only route we can now take. He’s narrowed the field quite a bit,
What Landry said won't have jack shite to do with who is hired and how much they get paid.

Curly and Kelly were not P4 coaches.

Curly wasn't; I overlooked the P4 in your original post. However, you're being intellectually dishonest if you're truly trying to say ND isn't the equivalent of a P4 program.

For arguments sake you can keep your P4 technicality: He was the 4th highest ranked coach going in 2021 preseason ranking of coaches:

4. Brian Kelly, Notre Dame

Votes: 122
Last year: 6 (+2)
Record: 134-60 in FBS (81-39 at Notre Dame)
Lowdown: Kelly slipped to No. 20 in our 2018 rankings, but he reinvented his Notre Dame stint with a three-year run that includes a 33-6 record and two Playoff appearances. The Irish have learned from Playoff losses to Clemson and Alabama, and the program continues to evolve. It's the same track record as the next coach on this list.

You progress from cord to smaller Div 1 schools usually as HC...you have to prove yourself usually. Not always, but it is very rare to see cord to hbc at a major schools.
