Because all of the little “insiders” like to throw out the term “done deal” when most of the time, its a verbal deal or a term sheet, which can be kept quiet or not shown to anyone, so its all hearsay. So there is nothing concrete to break a story on

There is so much damn smoke. If you break the actual stuff you will lose every actual source and confidant they thinks you can keep a secret.

Because national news outlets will not “break“ a story of this magnitude without an inside source confirming the accuracy. That confirmation is normally through an agent or school rep. If neither the agent nor school reps will confirm the story, it will not typically break on the national level.

Take for instance the Tom Herman story in 2016. That was broken by Herman‘s agent to get Texas off their arse.

It’s not a done deal

I still it’s likely he doesn’t take the job

Because he’s not staying. That much is clear from every official communication coming out of OM, from the AD’s announcement that a decision will be announced on Saturday to the Chancellor’s praising everyone associated with the team but Kiffin to Kiffin’s demeanor in the press conference. Add in the foul mood of their top boosters and it’s clear he’s gone. There really is no logical reading of those facts that supports any other conclusion.

Franklin was announced because he wasn’t currently working. Everyone else is and will be announced once their seasons are over
