Why does Woodward love Jimbo so much?

Jimbo is an above average coach, but he's never SUSTAINED a top program. Instead he's shown everybody that he can win a title only to fail to reload. But again, for some reason Woodward is obsessed with this guy.

Might as well go with "next coach up"?

Jimbo is among the most overrated head coaches I've seen in my lifetime. He is a Les Miles. He is an Ed Orgeron. Above average ain't good enough for LSU after we've just had to deal with Sabamm's _ucking dynasty for 12 years!!!!!!!

If it's Jimbo, frick that douche bag and frick Woodward. A pretender who cheats badly at recruiting and an AD with a lack of balls when hiring coaches. Instead of risking his reputation on an up and comer that he believes in, he doubles down on the worst hire of his career (at least compared to what he paid). Not that anyone here cares, but I'll be checking out if this happens. And I guarantee, Jimbo would have no clue how much more scrutiny he would get at LSU. He'd get LSU a death penalty in short order.

How do we know he does?

All we see are these 'insiders' saying it's Jimbo. I take that with a grain of salt.

Don't get me wrong, I want to know who the next coach is as much as anybody else but I trust Woodward.

I think if he hires Jimbo, again, that would be underwhelming. I don't see him doing that. Out of all the coaches he could get, he hires a guy he hired before?

I don't see it.

I hope you are right. The Jimbo hire and subsequent contract at A&M is the only thing that ever raised doubts in my mind about Woodward.

Great post, Birdman. Some actual reasonable thought on this board.

UCF AD hired Heupel. Then the AD was hired at Tennessee. He then decided to bring Heupel to Tennessee. How is that a bad idea?

Mulkey is a good start. Jay Johnson looks to be a great hire the more I read about him.

I never thought Mulkey would ever leave Baylor.

You started ripping Johnson the second he got off the plane because of his tie.

In any event, I trust the guy. I don't see him hiring a guy he hired before, based on that alone.

I really hope this is like the baseball hire and it holds true that we didn't truly know until the hire was made. I just can't imagine it being Jimbo and knowing this is the hire that will be his biggest hire of his career. Just to make the same hire he did at his last school. I just think we've seen the best of Jimbo.

Wtf?

In 8 years at FSU, he had 6 10-win seasons with a national championship, a playoff appearance, and 3 other NY6 bowls.

He currently has one of the best resumes in all of college football among active coaches.

Under Jimbo, FSU, minus Jamis Winston, started its dive towards the ocean floor. He's an average coach. Whoever the coach is, I'll get behind. If Jimbo is thought of as being the best then so be it.

This is the retarded take for the night. If Bama AD went to another school, he shouldnt hire Nick?

When Saban was getting out of Miami, Bertman shouldnt have considered rehiring him? Because he had hired him before?

If Meyer leaves the Jags and UF is open, thats a No?

If Aranda takes a job and Rhule wants out of the pros, Baylor is off limits because they still have the same AD when Rhule was 1st gired?

Les Miles. He is an Ed Orgeron.

Neither of these were above average coaches and he will be 3-1 against LSU after this next arse whipping Only Burrow and Brady beat him since he has been at TAMU.

He has a monster class and if they don’t lose their starting QB, they may be undefeated THIS season.
