Why did Notre Dame go 4-8 in 2016

Brian Kelly’s 7th season and they go 4-8. Since then it’s been 10+ win seasons, but should that year be alarming?

That is my one real concern that losing season with that schedule. Otherwise he has been straight ripping off good seasons.

It’s just weird to have a drop like that hard in the middle of a coaching span. You usually see the losing season pop up on year 1 maybe 2, or on the back slide.

After that season he did what a good coach does.
Fired the OC, DC and several other assistants.
Got right back on track the following year because he didn't dick around with minor changes.

I was worried about 4-8 too, but this article summed it up for me. Yes, they had a bad year; however, the man knows how to make changes. Great coach. Leader of men! Great hire!
