Even if the extension isn't ready?

Mel Tucker's pending extension has been public for over a week. It started leaking literally over a week ago annd it still hasn't been been signed. But the word was leaked and for a purpose by MSUs side. Even though it wasn't fully ready.

Why can't Oklahoma float something about an impending extension,raise,facility/support staff upgrades etc?

Well. I'll tell you why. It's obvious. They don't have one. Riley hasn't agreed to shite with them. He hasn't agreed to stay, he hasn't told LSU no.

Because the second he does tell LSU "No I'm staying at Oklahoma"

Oklahoma would run to the media announce it to the world. The same way MSU did with Mel.

Until we see something about an agreement and extension. Riley is our guy. Just like our people are saying.

You can't announce something that you don't have.

The longer it stays quiet. The more confidence you can have that it's quiet for a reason. It's quiet because nothing can be announced until after the regular season.

Takes time to organize money with a lot of people.

MSU did it with mostly one guy.

Because big-time college Athletics programs don’t just automatically ejaculate extensions if their coach is taking interviews elsewhere

Yep. I was thinking the same thing. The quiet is very good for us right now.

But the OU insider last night said Riley and OU had been working on an extension since the summer!

Didn’t Riley sign an extension last year? Don’t see the need for OU to extend him when they just did??

What’s the early exit fee OU has to pay to leave the Big 12?

If you have a job offer for double your current compensation, you at the very least walk away with solid pay bump. Regardless if you just got one a year ago.

oof.

Just be ready for Aranda. OU is spooked now. They know what's coming in the SEC. No way they can let Riley go.

Exactly! Mel got one without an actual LSU offer!

Well that just makes too much sense. Where’s the drama in that?

Yep. The longer this thing goes without some kind of announcement from the Oklahoma side. The more likely we've got our guy.

If Riley is smart, he's telling OU he is deferring everything to his agent so that he can focus on OU football. That's the agents job. OU can't complain if Riley stays focused on what's important to the team.

The other side of that is what is the advantage of OU offering right now? They offer and then LSU counters?

If I were in OU's position I'd wait until LSU doesn't have any more time to lose then I'd offer. After that how much time is LSU going to spend chasing him while losing out on other candidates?
