Dantonio isn't leaving. He does a good job, look at what he did at Cincy after Minter.

I still think its a NFL guy. If Schottenheimer was available I think he would be a great hire.

Going to be interesting. I definitely could see us going the NFL route. The only thing I worry about with this is college experience. I really don't want us to get an NFL guy who isn't ready to recruit.

That's why I like Schottenheimer. He played for Spurrier, his dad and uncle, he knows offense, is 40 or maybe younger, raised in Olathe so he has ties to Midwest. He can use NFL ties to get recruits.

Last two times they went NFL it worked Holtz and Petrino.

There's an American Drive-In meal and shake in this for you if you're right.

Not to be too picky, but not correct. Arkansas and LSU tied for 2nd in the West, both having identical conference records. There is no tie breaker for 2nd. You won the head to head, but head to head record doesn't count in determining the order of finish in the division. Head to head only counts in the tie-break for determining the conference championship game representative.

In 2010 Arkansas finsihed the season as the 4th highest ranked team from the SEC West. Two spots ahead of Miss. State.

Assuming DFW ties are the most important factor:

Head coaches with current or recent ties:

Art Briles
Gary Patterson
Junes Jones
Mike Gundy
Kevin Wilson
Tommy Tuberville
Dana Holgerson
Todd Graham

Coordinators with current or recent ties:

Todd Monken
Brent Venables
Mike Stoops
Brian Harsin
Steve Kragthorpe

If I were a betting man, and I am, I'd put money it's Gundy. It makes perfect sense.
1. The man knows recruiting in Texas (where Arkansas has historically recruited).
2. He has proven he can compete against Big Brother (OU) and in a tough conference.
3. He's been there long enough to know it's a constant uphill battle to get any recognition in his own state (Arkansas has no in state competition).
4. He's smart enough to know to get out at the right time...and this is the right time.

Do all of the reasons above look familiar? They should. That's the same scenario that brought Miles to LSU from the same school.

The Gundy conversations with Arky have been going on for a while. This is from like three weeks ago:

Keep an eye on Gundy
