Not at the college level he wasn't. Different era in the pros too, didn't see the free agency movement we see today.

Pete is the closest thing. I think Dabo or Gundy has the temperament to be.

The hard nosed style of Saban just doesn't work without free labor of college.

I think Chris Petersen could make the transition.

Saban is the greatest recruiter of all time. He is also Top 3 in defensive game planning. However, he has to have a talent advantage to win like he does. Kudos to him for bringing in that talent

It’s a misnomer to assume his coaching style will not work in the nfl. It will. However, he needs superior talent to win.

That is the difference in Saban and Bellichick. Their personalities are remarkably similar. Bill can win with lesser talent though because he is smarter.

From what I've observed over the years is that Belichick and Saban are complete opposites in personality. I've never seen or heard of Belichick chewing coaches asses on the sideline or publicly chewing out players. Even their press conferences are conducted way differently. Yeah, Belichick is an a-hole to the press but but in a completely different manner whereas Saban will point blank tell them they're morons.

Bill has enjoyed the greatest QB of all time....

that's the secret for all coaches...get a great QB and become a football coaching God!

Saban has talent advantage and he's a great culture builder... with great system in place he repeats without any compromise.

He got his own players to set their own curfew lat week against UGA....while our players are partying until 3 am...

I understand Alabama's game is more important but if you're trying to build a championship program, you have to have players buy into a formula that produces results...drinking the night before isn't a formula for being your best.

I hate Urban Meyer about as much as any coach on the planet, but give him credit for being a great coach. He just might have the right stuff to succeed in the NFL.

No that would be Butch Davis.

And if Longevity counts then it's Bobby Bowden
