I get why the board likes him.

I'd be excited about the hire as well.

Is there even a single scrap or shred of evidence to suggest we've done anything in regards to contacting him? At all?

I know LSU has been pretty much silent on this entire process and no one really knows anything, but someone give us even a shred of evidence to believe Canada gets so much as a phone call.

Unfortunately, this is just too subjective.

Best OC by what standard?

Coach O's interpretation?

Joe Alleva's? (God help us)

TAF? (A horse by committee...)

People just like what he has done this year. It truly has been quite impressive. That's about it.

That's what this board is about, right? People sharing their ideas and encouraging discussions around those notions. Nothing suggests that Matt Canada will be LSU's next OC, but discussing his viability as a candidate is certainly fair game on this board.

He's been very successful at multiple schools.

Nobody here probably has ever watched Pitt and he was terrible before this year so they're lying if they say they've been following him

Maybe you should read up on the guy a little before posting.

Lol. You have no clue who has watched pitt, and no he wasn't terrible before. Why don't you send me links to how terrible he was at his previous stops.

I'm getting tired of people reading one paragraph in Wikipedia about him being fired and thinking he sucks or is unsuccesful. The firing made no sense, really, and looking at it in hindsight many say the fired the wrong coach.

Third thread you've shown your ignorance on this guy. Have you looked at his numbers at NC State like I suggested?

I can help with that .

quote:

Under Canada's direction, NC State averaged more than 30 points per game each of the past two seasons. In 2015, the Wolfpack scored 33.2 points per contest, the third highest average in school history.

quote:

Canada served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at NC State from 2013-15. This past season, the Wolfpack produced 412.8 yards per game--the fifth highest average in school history--despite losing leading rusher Matt Dayes (108.1 yards per game) to injury for the final five games. NC State led the Atlantic Coast Conference and ranked 11th nationally in time of possession (33:03).

quote:

Prior to NC State, Canada was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Wisconsin during the 2012 season. Led by All-America running back Montee Ball, the Badgers averaged 236.4 rushing yards per game to rank 13th nationally. Ball, who rushed for 1,830 yards and 22 touchdowns, was named the recipient of the prestigious Doak Walker Award, annually presented to the nation's top running back.

quote:

From 2004-10, Canada coached quarterbacks at Indiana. He was the Hoosiers' offensive coordinator his final four seasons (2007-10) after serving as passing game coordinator for two years (2005-06). The 2007 Hoosiers posted a school-record 412 points in earning an invitation to the Insight Bowl, the program's first postseason game in 14 years.

Oh & in case I forgot. He is the only O.C out of five finalist for the Broyles award this year, given to the nations top assistant.

Nah. As far as anyone knows Canada is loyal to his friend and Head Coach at Pitt. It is very likely that he would stay at Pitt and wait for a HC job to be offered; he's been linked to jobs in past.

Of course, you could say the same about Aranda last year.

Thanks. I was too lazy to insert the numbers into my post since this buffoon apparently hasn't bothered to read them from the other thread where I already suggested he should.

Yep. Was thinking the same thing. Or even $1.615. Bump him by a full $1 mil and that money will talk and talk very loud. And probably doubtful Pitt would match it.

I just don't know why North Carolina State let him go if he was that great.

Gotta be some issue with him
