Apparently we were damn close to having Tom Herman, not that that would have worked out much better

We hired Ed Orgeron.
And he won a national championship with arguably the greatest college team ever.
This actually helped LSU’s perception to coaches.

Can we hire an above avg coach for once?

What do you think is the deadline for Riley to give his decision?

Yep, that is my main issue with Mark Stoops - his mediocre to bad offenses - and I do not see him changing.

He runs more of a traditional, pro style offense too which LSU has been trying to get away from since Miles.

frick off, this is not a program that hires Mark Stoops
LSU hired Orgeron, and before that Les who had comparable success at oSu.
LSU needs a culture change, right now they're soft, entitled and don't have accountability. Someone like Stoops, Aranda, or Matt Campbell are good guys to change that. They are used to taking over shite situations and weeding out the cancer.

Woodward must identify the next Nick Saban

Thats Mike Stoops, not Mark.

Taking over a perennial loser in the dumps and building a program is more impressive than taking over a program that's been consistently winning and not fricking it up.
He seems to be more comfortable at a program where he gets a bonus for winning 6 games in a season...

Matt Campbell would be a guy who’s done really well at a difficult place to win but probably wouldn’t wow anyone on the surface…yet I think if you look at context and his record of success, I think he’d blow up here

Offense consistently mediocre/bad
Decent/good coach, not an elite coach IMO

Wouldn't you be?

LSU, USC, and FL need to be torn down and rebuilt.
LSU won a national championship just 2 years ago, they do not need to be torn down and rebuilt. The right coaching hire, and we’re back to being competitive next season.

If Scott can do that, we all need to write him onto the ballots in 2024

You hire the person that’s going to give you the most stability especially in times like this. The best hire for this job from everything that’s been discuss so far is stoops. He brings stability. He brings the ability to build and rebuild a program. He brings the ability to be a consistent winner in a very difficult place to win at football. Everything about him speaks of Nick Saban 1999. He has been a very good defensive coordinator in his career. I’m sure he’ll hire a fine offensive coordinator. He is not less miles 2.0.

I think you’re getting “big fish hire” confused with “limp fish hire”.

One of my friends was a coordinator under MS. He told me (in not so many words) that Stoops threw him under the bus to save his own job. Not surprising, but this is the type of person we are dealing with. MS has a tendancy to let his emotions cloud his judgement and he never wants to accept responsibility for his own mistakes. He's a good fit at a place like UK, but in no way do I want him running the show at LSU.
