What's to stop Coach O from being Coker if hired permanently?

That's how I see this situation right now, I don't trust Ed O to sustain the success after 3 years when the well runs dry.

One thing CEO has going for him is he can recruit really well. Many people have said for years, that LSU can win 8-10 games a year no matter who the coach is because of all the talent. This is a really important hire. I'm not sure I trust the powers that be to not screw this up. There is a better chance of making the wrong hire than the right hire in these situations.

When the well runs dry? You do realize that Orgeron is much better than Miles at recruiting don't you?
I'm not saying he gets the job. I'm just saying he's like a better recruiting version of Miles who wouldn't f*ck up our offense by running 70% of the time into 9 man boxes. And the well most certainly wouldn't be dry. He left the cupboard better than he got it at Ole Miss, which was pretty miraculous when you realize how bad Ole Miss was at that time.

He'll recruit at an elite level. If he can prove throughout the year that he can handle the coaching duties here me only other concern is his ability to hire assistants.
For a guy that delegates a lot of responsibility to his coordinators, he will have to make home run hires.

There's too many hypothetical situations being thrown around right now. It's impossible to even think about for me anymore. I'm just going to let things play out. Yes there is a circumstance where I can see that Coach O could and should get the job, but it's not like the school is going to make that decision right now. We have a lot of time and games ahead of us before that, so I'm just going to enjoy them.

That's my last worry about Coach O. Even Houston Nutt could win with the talent that O left at Ole Miss. It was only when O's recruits were gone that Nutt started losing.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. Miles was pretty good at that whole recruiting thing and although O is a great recruiter especially as a position coach and he was pretty good at Ole Miss as the head man...I wouldn't dismiss Miles recruiting abilities so easily.

Miles did much better than Coker plus the U had the NCAA hovering over them. Miles fault is not adapting and changing the offense over his tenure. It cost him his job.

Orgeron did not recruit as well at Ole Miss as Hugh Freeze has. And Freeze did not had the pedigree that O had coming in.

Dude, if this was based purely off recruiting, CEO would have absolutely no competition for the LSU job except for Saban.
