I thought this might make for an interesting discussion. What scheme elements would you like to see as a staple?

I would like to see a scheme that featured the TEs and RBs more in the passing game. It improved under Brady, but I wish we used them more TBH. I thought it was pretty nonexistent under Linehan.

I also like to see more balanced fronts because it is harder for defenses to get pre-snap reads. I don’t think we use 2 TEs enough.

Power spread. Pre snap motion and alot of quick routes instead of a bunch of slow deep routes. We won't have a great OL anytime soon, so whoever gets the position needs to utilize the quick game just as Joe Brady did.

More spacing. Brady did such a good job of spacing from all formations wether it be 3 WR, 1 TE, 1RB or from 5WR bunch formations. The routes always were designed to uncover people quickly. I think E did a good job of bringing the basis of the offense back but we lacked a lot of the details that made us go from a good offense to a historic one. The next OC needs to be able to create spacing and also have a detailed plan for the run game so it can be effective wether we are in 2 TE sets or 4WR sets. More stretches, counters and zone runs and we will have a stable of different style backs to run anything we desire.

Up tempo Air Raid with a 55-45 to 60-40 balance pass to run. But like 2019, plenty of passes to the backs and a few jet sweeps sprinkled in making the balance closer to 50-50 in reality. Some RPO. A little read option to surprise the D. Mostly out of the gun with some pistol sprinkled in and the ability to run under center for power and short yardage.

In other words, a lot of similarities to the 2019 offense.

No one features the RBs in the passing game enough. RB vs LB is the best matchup on the field for most offenses and no one takes advantage of it.

That quick pass up the middle Max threw to Kole Taylor early against the Webels sure looked smooth.

More TE targets to a 6’7” guy.

Adaptability

Not every QB is going to be Joe Burrow.

An offense should be able to be streamlined for your get QBs without being neutered.

Creativity in the run game. The ability to attack the middle of the field in the passing game and get our athletes the ball in space

Basically the same passing offense from 2019

Bunch WR sets
Incorporate TE spread out in passing game
RB screens
WR set in RB position
Fast paced offense

Since we don't have a Clyde we desperately need to tailor our run game. We need to run more pistol like Bama to get a power run game going down hill

This; which is the Sean Payton influence. I'd try HARD to dip into his coaching tree again.
And before you say it's too pass-heavy, remember Payton can run the ball too. For every Kamara/Sproles/Bush, there was a Murray/Ingram/PT/Deuce balancing it out.

We have the guys in place, use Emery as the explosive guy and Davis-Price as the punch in the face. Keep the passing aggressive enough that they can't focus on the run, but utilize the run too.

This should be the only answer. We saw flashes of it this year and I was sad to see Coach E step away. Third down and red zone was where we bogged down and since that was Linehan's piece, well, glad that guy is gone, although I thought the hire was suspect to begin with; seemed like subtraction by addition.

More RPO, more of a consistent commitment to the running game, and more diversity in the running game with TRUE read options.
