What School Stands To Be Hurt The Most By Making The Wrong Hire?

A decision to change coaches can really be a roll of the dice. The stakes can be high.
What school, above all others, can not afford to get its search wrong?

On a side note, is anyone coming after Fleck? I figure he is on someone's list.

I don’t think any could be really hurt by a poor hire.
They are all 2nd and 3rd tier SEC schools who have some type of mental disorder that their programs are actually conference and national title contenders.
It won’t make a damn bit of difference who coaches at those places.

They are hurting cause they already made wrong hires. So all. Or none.

Mizzou probably. Coming off three straight years of 6-8 wins, but rolling the dice by firing that guy for someone new.

I would say Arky. You're hearing people already say that bc of A&M joining they can't compete in the SEC anymore (and it was an uphill climb before anyway). If they have another bad hire that perception may become reality in many coaches eyes going forward.

I agree that it's us, but the idea that A&M joining has hurt Arkansas is ludicrous. The main tenet is that it's hurt our recruiting in Texas, but A&M had first choice there before they joined and our recruiting hasn't changed much since. It's probably hurt LSU more than Arkansas, since LSU and A&M go head-to-head more for players in SE Texas.

You got that right. However, if we get this right then we can be back competitive next season and back in bowl contention in a couple of seasons. Chad was an awful HC, but he did stock some talent in the skill positions. Somebody is definitely going to have to raid some Juco OL foe next season.

Not this year. He signed a new contract that included a massive buyout for this offseason. It drops significantly next year so I think you’ll see his name pop up a lot next season so long as Minny doesn’t fall off the face of the earth.

The town was in panic mode before WT was even let go. I feel like they have to hit a home run here.

Ole Miss
The sanctions took a toll. Recruiting is decent but fragile.
Booster and season ticket money is slim on top of one of the smallest revenue bases in the Sec. They are going to have to reach to get the next guy they want. If they miss and have to ride out a loser or extend for a buyout, any hope of fielding a contender is small.
I hate Ole Miss but have lots of Oxford connections. I am pulling for them to make a good decision.

The school with the potential to be most hurt is not one on the list; it is a school whose coach will leave for one on the list.

IT's USC or Florida State.
The ACC needs FSU to get back to the Top 15-25.
The Pac-12 needs USC to get back to being strong again as well.
The SEC and Big 10 each have 4 or 5 teams in the Top 15 each season - which make for exciting match-ups week to week and difficult schedules.
Both the ACC and Pac12 would benefit greatly from having these two teams get back to the 10 win mark.

Arkansas.
This.
We've already had the worst 8 year stretch of football in Razorback history and fan excitement is at rock bottom. We've essentially lost a generation of fans and regionalized the program in the process. Three straight misses (I'm not counting JLS) would be the end of Arkansas as a competitive program.
Missing on this hire would be a death sentence for Arkansas football.

LSU is really having trouble recruiting the past couple years.....

Arkansas 100%. A bad hire now is the equivalent of the death penalty.

When Bobby Petrino had that motorcycle wreck everybody thought a bitch fell off the back but it was actually the entire football program.
