Cristobal

Wouldn't hate the hire, but his teams seem to lose two-three games a year that they have no business losing. Also, I would be willing to bet that NIL has him wanting to stay in Oregon.

Campbell

Doesn't recruit well enough for a job like LSU. And I'd be willing to bet that he is pining for a B1G job or perhaps OU if it opens up.

Fickell

He's the guy I've wanted the most since our job came open. But I don't think he's going to leave the midwest and is probably waiting on a B1G job to open.

Would be interesting for sure, but I don't think the timing is right. Think he's got at least one more year in Carolina.

I see Petersen at USC before LSU.

Definitely, because he's only ever lived and worked on the west coast.

Petersen may, or may not, want to leave the West.

I think his history proves that. Could've had a number of other jobs before he landed at Washington; I think there's a very good reason for that.

cristobal- i dont think timing works out plus i think only job he would leave for is Florida

Campbell- dont think he leaves the midwest. I dont think he leaves Iowa state, pretty much told people he isnt leaving for midwest. if we were able to get riley by some miracle, he would go to OU.

Fickell- pretty much told people he isnt leaving midwest for any reason. his old AD is at USC though but he isnt coming to SEC, made that pretty clear.

Fleck- again not leaving the mid west and he is divorced with kids, would be hard to get him out of there.

Rhule- if he is in play, he should be #2 behind riley (assuming urban is done for). would love Rhule.

to me has a better chance of happening than a high tier P5 coach leaving.

is my number 1 choice but I think timing will not be in our favor to pick him up.

I think we are looking at Napier, not because we aren't "worthy" of a top 5 coach but I think it has more to do with timing of who we are going after. It sounds like Woody wants ink dry before the early signing period... some pretty amazing things will have to work in our favor to end up with a P5 HC that's being rumored or NFL guy.

Everyone get's so worked up over picking a Coordinator or G5 coach but plenty of top programs do it all the time. Ohio State, OU, Georgia, Texas, Notre Dame, Clemson, etc. and it is pretty rare that P5 guys move around.. especially ones in a playoff hunt or conference title run. But I would love to be wrong.

I have faith that Woodward will hire a good coach, Sark was his worst and first hire that he made as an AD.

name the last time a sitting head coach of a top 6 historic school in any p5 conference left to go another voluntarily.
It doesn’t happen often... once every 5-10 years... but Jimbo is not the only one & our current AD was the last to do it.

Also worth mentioning — any major SEC vacancy this year was always going to reset the market. First post-covid hire with humongous fresh revenue dump looming.

Aranda 10%
Riley 5%
Jimbo 74%
Petersen 10%
Saban 0%
Urban 0%

Scotty can pay Jimbo up to $1M more a year than Riley, due to the buyout costs from OU. He may even want Riley, but hes also the financial manager of the athletic dept. Paying Riley $12M, will cost him $13M per year with his $9M buyout

He can get Jimbo for $11.4M, saving $1.6M for assistants

Not sure who we actually hire, but who we want seems to fluctuate with the results of last weekend's games. In that case you would figure Aranda's stock would plummet after giving up over 400 yards to a freshman quarterback making his first start for a team that just fired its coach. I think our affinity for him is largely because of familiarity.

I wouldn't be unhappy with his hire, but it would be a big risk that I don't think Woodward really wants to take.

Yeah, Aranda is at least as big a risk as Tucker or Napier, likely more of one considering he’s not the recruiter those two are

Cristobal is definitely flying under the radar.

The other three aren't happening though.

This.

I don't think Riley is happening, I'd take the rest of the field at about 95% over him. I'd maybe put Jimbo a little higher, but I don't think he's happening either.

My bet is on Aranda or Napier, but there's supposedly two candidates that aren't being mentioned that are in the mix in a big way according to sports radio

That won't be the popular opinion in these parts. You need to hope Woody had a plan in place when he let O gueax

Nobody can cofirm or refute that.
