What is the buyout amount on the contract extension Ole Miss wants Kiffin to sign?

Rumored to be somewhere between $20-30 mil. That's just a rumor though so take it with a massive grain of salt

Good luck with that.
No way he is signing an extension with that amount of a buyout in it.
If that is true, OM is saying that they want Kiffin to sign something that says he is going to die as their coach.

If Ole Miss fires Kiffin they owe him 32 million.
If Kiffin doesn’t resign and simply stays on campus to coach the playoffs… and Ole Miss doesn’t want him to coach the playoffs….
Ole Piss will need to fire him to get him off campus !!!

Kiffin is STILL employed by Contract until he either RESIGNs or FIRED by Ole Piss.
He’s under contract…. If he just continues showing up for work and DOES NOT Resign…

— The Answer : You CANT Stop Him because he’s under contract to coach the team UNLESS you Fire him !!
If Kiffin won’t leave on his own….
They can maybe SUSPEND him and ban him from the field in CFP … but the last thing they want to do is fire him because it will cost Ole Piss 32 million dollars !!

You don’t understand…..
Buyout only becomes relevant if he Either:
1) Resigned
2) Ole Piss Fires him
If Lane REFUSES to do anything at all and just keeps showing up to coach…. they have to let him coach UNTIL 1 of the 2 options above happens.

Correct. People on this board are so dramatic. Ole miss would simply suspend him with pay for the playoffs or until a deal with a different university is done.

I do understand. The OP is asking what is buyout is on the proposed contract extension Ole Miss wants him to sign. That contract has two different buyouts. I’m asking him which one he is referring to.

The contract extension is irrelevant because it’s not signed (enacted) and NEVER will be signed by Kiffin.
There was a “rumor” that 6 million is needed to buy out his CURRENT contract.
Personally… I want him out of Ole Piss Piss ASAP … to address :
1) the early signing date class.
2) assemble his staff
2) recruiting for the 2nd signing date
4) start identifying positional need for the Portal.

What I was getting at is if it isn't too crazy of a number, Lane could sign it, Coach the playoffs then leave with LSU paying the buyout.

I thought I read somewhere on this board that his buyout were he to leave was 3M. It’s also been reported that his current contract has no offset (or whatever it’s called) worked into it so Ole Miss will not be firing him. He is absolutely in the driver’s seat with whatever he wants to do if these things are true.

No, he does not have any offset language in his contract. They would owe him the full buyout even if he took another job
