LSU, reportedly, has told Lane's camp they'll wait however long is necessary.
That is incredibly stupid on their part if that’s true

That's some scary shite. If they win in the 1st round, the portal opens with us without a coach. If they make it to the semifinals, that's half the portal opening gone and you've basically said screw the 2026 season. All without anything legally binding

I dont think we would have waited either, which makes the ultimatum from Ole Miss puzzling, to say the least

Did you miss the fact that they had a meeting on Thursday?

What if Kiffin says after the egg bowl, "I am looking forward to hosting a playoff game." and nothing else? Does Ole Miss fire him for not signing an extension? Do UF and LSU move on? This would be interesting.

It likely never existed.

I'm sure Ole Miss requested an answer. But it was not an ultimatum. In order to have an ultimatum, the party giving it must be willing to exercise the "or else" option. Here, that would be firing Kiffin and/or likely breaching the contract. Ole Miss was never going to do that.

There was no ultimatum given - that was a media creation - however the "expected deadline" of Saturday is for the mutual benefit of all parties unless Lane decides to stay, which is unlikely.

What do y’all need?

Uga has clinched right?

Tamu bama and OU to lose?

Need Texas and Auburn to win and us beat State. We would play UGA in the title game via tiebreakers.

What were they going to do fire him and pay him his buyout?

They couldn't suspend him without cause.
They obviously want someone else to hire him so they save some money. If they know he is leaving

I'm sure they can find a reason to suspend him for cause. He's already got a track record of fricking off during the playoffs when he's taken another job

Ole Miss has given Lane Kiffin an ultimatum to decide his future before the Nov. 28 Egg Bowl against Mississippi State, a person briefed on the discussions told The Athletic.

How do they intend to enforce an ultimatum? If he does nothing he's still under contract, are they just going to fire him for not saying he's going to stay after OM's season is over?

That's definitely in the realm of possibility and would start a Cold War of epic proportions.

They have no leverage. They would have to fire Lane. They might lose him, but they aren't firing hom.

Where have you been, baw? They caved and gave him until after the Egg Bowl. They'll make an announcement then, and I assume he signs the LSU offer right after.

It's good to see you're nice and calm this morning. Love it. Enjoy your thanksgiving week. Saturday is Christmas
