Cowboys let him go.

With the Seahawks, instrumental to the formation of the Legion of Boom.

Richard is high on my list. I think he is an absolute stud

His coaching style is very energetic and works incredibly well for college. I don’t know how he’d do with recruiting but I think he’s a guy players would be very excited about. Not sure how long he’d be here tho but I’d be excited to have him.

USC guy under the Pete Carroll tree so that makes him as good a guess as any this early on.

I do love the Seahawks defensive DNA, the way they tackle, and the way they create pressure up front, but it's always been a bit too zone heavy for my tastes. A lot of Cover 3.

O was on the USC staff when Richard played there. I’m sure they’ve kept in touch over the years.

i posted about that earlier on the rant when this was floated

we are, historically, really bad at zone. it's why Steele's year was so meh/bad. we were bad this year when we went zone heavy as well

i'm also not sure if a zone scheme really meshes with Corey Raymond also, so we risk losing him

I'm not saying it's anything definitive, but I would imagine Raymond will be salty when we pass him up as DC (again). it'll be interesting to see if he doesn't leave this off-season.

he's going to be like Frank Wilson without the HC opportunities...or...worse...he'll be like Frank Wilson and lower his HC division a great deal

Yeah, I don't see Frank Wilson leveraging a successful tenure at Mcneese into another FBS job.

He should have used LSU for the ULL job when Napier leaves

Essentially all Cover 3 but there’s a lot to like about the defense he would install.

-Pressure heavy
-sound tackling
-REQUIRES stud press corners, which LSU always has.
-ultimately allows its defenders to play free and make plays
-downside of that is there needs to be a lot of communication/feel needed when players are passing off coverage to others.

Did anyone watch the Seahawks defense, with the legion of boom still intact, take a drastic decline once Richard became the DC?
Our defense was trash this year, and our fans would still rather have Norton over Richard. Great DB coach, not a good DC.

I think he'd be easy to sell to DL recruits. The scheme allows pass rushing DTs to thrive but also has a spot for a big 2-gapping space eater.

I think he would be a good fit honestly.

Yes, cash.

Some seahawk fans were pissed at the firing. I was informed if the niners DC were to leave for the browns, he was their #1 choice.

I’m a Seahawks fan and liked him as a DB coach but the defense tailed off a little while he was DC. A lot of fans assumed he was fired bc Pete was making wholesale changes and he just got caught up in it, but it’s not like he set the world on fire.

Now, I love the way Seattle plays defense. And I also live in Dallas and the folks around here were big fans of him too.

Didn't the talent tail off a bit too during this time period? I don't follow the Seahawks very closely, but I thought around the time Quinn left was when they were having to make some hard decisions with regard to who to salary cap space and resigning players.
