Nah; WVU has a good football culture, solid resources and higher expectations than that.
Consistently in the top 25 and making a run at a conference title and maybe a little more every 4 or 5 years is where you should be with that program.
Unranked for 6 years is an embarrassment and they should have let him go sooner.

A change was needed but looking at brown he is now 44 years old and he will be starting from scratch after spending a decade as a coaching wunderkind. It’s so hard to know with high probability who will win and who will flame out in this business

If I'm the AD at UMass, I would've been on the phone with Brown as soon as the news broke he was fired.
Brown is a UMass grad, can start over out of the spotlight, and with the program rejoining the MAC next year, there's an opportunity to turn things around relatively quickly.

His mom is still alive and lives in WV and he has a property there. He said recently he’s been spending most of his time there

Rumors are Saban doesn't want to coach but does want to be involved. Jimbo as HC with Saban as a close advisor would probably be the best case scenario.

Dan Mullen is too unpolished for the country club elites in Chapel Hill, same reason why the UAA loving Disney gators who get sexually aroused at any reference of UF being a top 5 public university ran him out of Gainesville, so unc won’t touch him but WVU would be perfect for them

By the way, if you're a down to earth regular American, the surrounding area of Morgantown, WV and the southwest tip of Pennsylvania is heaven.
Beautiful Appalachian Mountains, and the type of good folks you'd expect with that. No damn alligators, probably not that many snakes.

in Morgantown I've only eaten at Texas Roadhouse because I didn't have much time to research, so just pulled in there. Great kids at the bar having a few beers and dinner, look like they just came from cutting trees all day. Respectful as hell.
As for pizza, there is a ton of great places in SW Pa and north central WV because of the Italian influence from Pittsburgh. A time in the 90's, place in Moundsville WV, I cannot remember the name, early 90's and it was the greatest pizza I'd ever put in my mouth at that point.
btw, Pittsburgh is blue politically, but not THAT blue. It's no crazy arse leftist city at all.

My daughter swam for WVU for 4 years and I was there a few times every year. Mountain State Brewery down by the River is one of the best Pizza and beer joints I have ever been to. Love that place. Get the fire on the mountain Pizza and the Almost heaven amber ale. I always stayed at the waterfront hotel next door as well. Great hotel with a nice restaurant and bar.

Shhh my family has been in northern WV and southwest PA(Greene County) since the 1780s. Don't need a bunch of people finding out how nice it is.
