It's a top tier coaching job. It's just not a place where you are going to regularly steal a coach from a top 10 program to come here.
This board gets in a tissy about the rumor of the day and then gets disappointed when they don't work out.

Every person at ESPN has said top 5, to a man. 247 across the board, as well. Josh Pate said top 5 in football across the board (which is flattering, but a little crazy). Not a single person has even insinuated that USC is in the same conversation today. No one has said UF is better, either. Think about that.

Are you trying to be stupid, or this a natural occurrence of stupid coming on out?
Name another program that’s won 3 national championships under 3 different coaches, two of which are considered on the lowest of tiers in coaching prowess.
Look, this isn’t homerism speaking here. It’s just facts. LSU is without question a top tier job. Now, if you don’t really desire to be the best and win, but rather hit cruise control and get paid, then maybe not, but if your goal is to win and win big, as in National Championships, then there isn’t a hotter place to coach, save maybe Alabama.

This. Jimbo to A&M was a specific situation that doesn’t apply here. Jimbo was unhappy with the admin at FSU and the program was slipping because of it. He was a far easier pull because of all the drama. There’s no one in a top job today who’s butting heads with their people in the same way.

And that the we are the only major school in a state that produces a goodly amount of NFL talent.
And we have some pretty sweet athletic facilities and academic programs for athletes.
And we have the best unis in the game.
