That's a very real possibility obviously, but the fact that OU insiders haven't heard shite is proof that he is seriously considering it. There is more than enough smoke on the LSU side to say confidently that he was offered, and if he didn't want to even consider leaving he would take it straight to his athletic director and say he's willing to take less money than they're offering, but he needs more money than what he's currently making. Like somebody else upthread said, nobody turns down 50% more money to do the same job somewhere else without their current employer making the compensation more comparable.

I now remember how DALSU got our email addresses. LSUTigers9458 had posted something that got whacked and a bunch of us gave our email address so we could see what it was. DA was lurking, pulled those addresses, and hit us up.

I spoke with another TD poster via email today and I'll share the same info as I did with him:
This coaching hire is extremely private, last year's debacle was an huge hit to the brand we've help build the past 20 years but the worst hit of all was ESPN bashing us publicly. The only details I can share on this is that ESPN has ties to the SEC with the SEC Network, the CFP and the their favorite child Bama. LSU is keeping things extremely confidential as to shut out ESPN and national media who are like sharks waiting for the first drop of blood to gouge us again publicly. This was a major reason for the lack of any information besides general statements being shared by LSU about this coaching search. I know it sounds like a tinfoil conspiracy but I was able to confirm that this overwhelmingly is the reason for keeping this search so tight lipped.
I will reiterate this again as I've reconfirmed my information again today and it is concrete and has not changed that Jimbo will be our next head coach. Rumors about O, Herman and other candidates including Jimbo are going to fly around all week and the media is going to try to run with it until early next week. Problem is this go around is that not one single one of them will be able to confirm shite until LSU is ready to. This isn't a search to appease the masses, this is a search to bring our football program (the most profitable one in the SEC last year at 133.1 million) to the highest levels attainable and to cement LSU as a destination school and that my friends is business and putting that business first is going to make every one of us alumni, fans, student, etc united and happy for a very long time.
This may be TLDR but understand why misinformation will continue to fly and media and others will continue to run unconfirmed rumors and out right lies until something sticks. This time around the shite is going to be stuck on their hands not our university's.

Well then it won’t be Riley, because Lincoln and OU will be in the playoff.
If we’re trying to announce before early signing period, it’s going to be Aranda, maybe Tucker, or Napier. I think it’s foolish to settle for a coach just because of a short term scheduling issue. If you get a playoff level coach, you buy whatever time you need to get him here.

I don’t really believe anyone with actual inside would be posting about it on TigerDroppings. There might be some high l end connections by some on the board, but the real conversations happening behind closed doors would not trickle down here.

There's a firewall; and it is intentional. The people in this search and decide mission are fully aware of this sites, lesser sites, and the media's desire to scoop.
So you can be damn sure of only one thing: The media outlet that gets the first scoop and reports anything definitive was fed that to both misdirect and embarrass that particular outlet.
However, it will be a sign that a deal is immanent or has been done.

Absolutely. It's ridiculous. The coaching hire is far more important than one signing class. Especially considering you have the transfer portal.

‘22 class is seen as an integral part of hire. The roster is in such bad shape right now that if ‘22 isn’t elite then LSU will be wandering in the dark

Lol no it won’t. Our roster is far from bad shape. We need to definitely improve in certain spots, but there’s a lot of talent to work with. The portal can get us back quick.
