Every coach says the job that just made him a multi-millionaire is his "dream" job. Of course, that is until the next dream job becomes available.

Statements like that are just booster shots to the fan base. Good statements to make, but meaningless... If it pumps you up, good for you, because that is all it was intended to do.

Jones was blown away when he visited Neyland Stadium in the 2011 season. He had been allegedly telling people since then that he really, really wanted this job.

Tennessee IS a premier job. Alabama fans acknowledge it, I even saw USCw fans admitting on their message board.

why do fans of lesser program like Arky find the needs to always show up in Tennessee thread and talk smack? you jelly? Arky is NOT a blueblood SEC program and never will be. dwi and stop comparing to your program to Tenn.

It's not good when you have to start the spin at the introductory news conference.

Arky fans would do well to heed their own advice...

that image of 102k fans in orange screaming their lungs out is permanently imprinted on his brain. on that day he thought, "man it'd be fricking awesome to coach here"

Close, Charlie is 24-14 at UL.

And Cinncy beat Louisville 2 out of the 3 seasons Jones was HC at Cinn.

And in the one loss to Louisville, it was this season and they lost by 3 points in overtime IN Louisville.

Jones >>> Strong. No doubt.

Personally I think Auburn got the best hire, followed by Tennessee, then by Arkansas

Why is this thread about the UT coach being the best hire filled with Arky fans saying "no way, ours is the best"? I think they are still trying to convince themselves the guy who stated he did not want to "be like the SEC" is going to not fail in the SEC.

Poor Arky.

The truth is no one knows how this will turn out. My initial reaction is that Arkansas made the best hire (and credit to Jeff Long for that). But Butch Jones has the best head coaching record, by far, of any head coach we have hired since Johnny Majors. Just gotta see how it plays out. Hope it works for us.

After evaluating the four SEC head coaching hires, I'm convinced that Jones is the best fit and will prove to be the best hire of this group

Considering the fact that you insisted that Will Muschamp was going to be Ron Zook part 2, you don't really have much credibility when it comes to recognizing coaching talent.

They seem extra defensive now that A&M has come in and made them irrelevant after just one year in the SEC.

Yes, Tennessee, the premier job where anyone would want to coach, just fired Derek Dooley and was in a bidding war with Colorado.

You're right, a coach that has lead his team to 3 straight Rose Bowls isn't a homerun hire.
