re: Vacant Chairs at OC and DC on signing day

This is idiotic.
If we make a hire that a kid doesn’t like, that’s really no worse than making no hire at all—they’re not going to sign up with no knowledge of what they’re signing up for.
I’m not saying we’re screwed or anything—I think we’ll be just fine; I’d rather take our time on a good hire than rush thru a bad one—but to suggest that it might be a bad thing to have coordinators on staff for signing day is a joke.
Now all the idiots will downvote because I’m not pumping irrational sunshine.

I really feel like we have our OC and DC and the people who need to know do know. Think we get them announced after esd.
There is literally zero chance that this is the case. If we had our guys, they’d have been announced.

The recruits most important relationship is with the head coach.
Mostly. I just know if my kid was a big time 4 or 5 star recruit, trying to figure out the most important decision of his life. I'd have hard time sending him somewhere and not knowing who the coordinator is going to be.
Having said that, having a coach of Kelly's stature would probably put me at ease. If O was still HC, no fricking way.

I mean does Bama ever lose a commit because a coordinator moved on to a HC job?

Best answer--Ding,Ding,Ding,Ding

Except when your head coach is new too.

Dude... Bama is the most stable program in the country. Saban installed a system, proved it works, and it consistently sends people to the NFL. THAT'S why Bama doesn't really lose recruits when they have coaching turnover. You're using the exception and trying to say it's the rule.

Easy to distinguish.
They can look at his body of work which is extensive.

LSU knows who those coaches are and will tell a recruit if it makes a difference
Walker knows who the OC will be
Walker knows who the OC will be

Worth noting that we do indeed have an OC and DC on staff. Those are not vacancies.
So we assume, in one case rightly so, that they are going to be let go. It is an assumption, not a given.
Also worth noting the two coaches that rumor was we were going to absolutely keep, Faulk and Raymond, are among some of the early vacancies. So far it has been opposite world.
Now, in all reality and technicalities aside, it's clear CBK either wants or is ok with the coordinators finishing the season under Brad Davis. Maybe it is for the message it sends (finish what you start) to the players, or maybe it is a purely logistical decision because Davis can't call plays on either side of the ball and he needs coordinators for one more game.
But nevertheless, we do not at this time as recruiting is taking place have vacancies at OC & DC.

If he keeps Peetz then my current level of excitement will plummet back to despair

I know this is asking a lot, but think long-term.

We’ve been assuming not having OC and DC filled by signing day is a bad thing but do we know that as a fact
I guess it depends on how bad the hires are.

I don't believe this.
I don't think we have either, and I think it is a sign that Kelley was starting from scratch when he got the offer.

If only we had a HC with 30 years experience recruiting and making staff hiring decisions.
