I don't think either school is really trying anymore. A&M tried for a while and then stopped. Texas wants to keep the facade of "we don't care" and A&M has nothing to gain by playing the game.

Herman is only gone if Meyer says yes. Nobody worth a $25 million buyout outside of Meyer.

Isn't UT losing big-time recruits because of Herman's shitty coaching and the uncertainty surrounding the program? At this point I'd think you'd have to let him go or just be another year behind after next season.

So $25m for Herman/staff and then $6m to hire a guy that isn’t proven at the highest level? During a season with unprecedented losses? I’m not gonna hold my breath...

Who is proven at the highest level?

Urban Meyer. That's my point. Nobody else is worth that huge buyout other than Urban.

Basically every 4 months someone tied to either university says they are open to play and blames the other school. It’s a never ending moving goal post.

A&M is every bit as guilty of this as Texas

Back to Texas coaching search, apparently they are now gauging the interest of Gary Kubiak.

Didn't know that. I admit it would be funny to see them hire an Aggie.

Don’t see any way that’s serious. They will stick with Herman before it gets to a guy like that. Still think that’s what happens

No...just know. They tried to cut a deal with the Pac for themselves, A&M, OU, and another school. Just tried to drag us along. frick them. This is their doing.

I don't mind playing Texass again or every year but they started the shitshow rollercoaster THEY REMAIN ON. Thank god our admin said enough and we left. Ags have NEVER looked back.

Meanwhile on Surly Horns there is a 629 page thread (and growing) called "Tell me about Texas A&M" and a 1300+ page thread about conference realignment. Both threads filled with rage, envy, and tears.

They sho nuff is mad.

So A&M doesn’t want to play but it’s Texas my fault? Even though Herman has said he would be down to play

He's losing recruits due to uncertainty around the program caused by Texas boosters openly searching for a new coach. It's their own damn fault his recruiting class is falling apart b/c they can't shut their mouths about his job status.

Maybe I’m just itching for the coaching changes board to open, but Im not convinced the Urban-Texas flirtation is over.

Their "offers" to play us are little more than media astro-turfing for their recruiting.

Most recently it went something like this

Texas - "Hey Ags, let's play!"

Ags - "Ok, our OOC is completely free starting in 2028*."

Texas - "No, we were thinking Sept 9, 2023."

Ags - "Well we are set to play at Miami that day... are you going to help buy out that series?"

Texas - "Nope. Why are you being so difficult? YOU SCARED?!?!? HEY EVERYONE!!! AGGY IS SCARED!!!! HEY CHIP BROWN, TWEET THAT OUT!!!!"

*28/29 has since been filled with Louisville.

If they were really serious about starting it back up all they would stop setting their OOC P5 games so far out but they are now full until at least 2033 and have never tried to set anything up that far down the line with us. It's not a real offer.

Imagine if this pisses of Herman, and he bolts for another job at the last minute leaving UT out to dry

That would be fantastic.
