Helfrich has a chance to keep his job after beating a good Utah team. If he wins the Civil War, I would bet he gets another year. This is good news, since Baylor is radioactive right now. Notre Dame is really the only other potential big time job that could be open besides Texas and LSU. The fewer realistic destinations there are, the better our negotiating position becomes.

They're handling it the exact same as LSU did last year. Waiting too long to fire the HC, and giving time to build public sympathy for him. I do find it odd that they havent even contacted herman at this point and everybody has him at 90% lock to go to UT and Strong isnt even canned yet.
Also hard to believe he hasnt been seriously contacted by LSU (at least as a backup plan) and we hear next to nothing about that. Theres no way he would choose Baylor or even Oregon above LSU. We could even make a good case vs Texas given the current state of both programs. Something doesnt add up with Herman. Either he's already got something lined up behind closed doors, or the hiring people dont think as highly of him as the internet fans.

Unless Herman has told LSU he isnt interested i think he should be the number 1 candidate...If LSU wasnt in the coaching search i think Texas would keep strong another year and pull the trigger next year and hire Herman...but they feel like Herman is the man and doesnt want to lose him to a school the competes with them on the recruiting trail and knows would make LSU almost unstoppable
