I’m not saying he will, but this is just another unintended consequence of the expanded playoff+portal+NIL+the new schedule. It will happen more and more. Now, coaches will probably be poached less often, but the ones that are will leave earlier than they typically have.
I don’t think there’s any way he would leave early if this was the BCS era still and it looked like they were going to be 1 of 2. But 1 of 12 is very different. They’re good, but I’ve watched them play, and I don’t think they are very likely to win 3 straight games against really good teams.

I'm skeptical of this move. When LSU flew in B. Kelly for his announcement, they did so on a Gulfstream owned by the Chouest family which could not be tracked and also wasn't based in Baton Rouge. Strange that the family came in one one of the MMR planes that can be very clearly tracked.

There's no way to consider other jobs if you're having a good year (playoff contention) because of the timeline of early signing day, CFP schedule, portal window, etc.
If you're an up and coming coach, or one looking to make a final big leap, you have to choose:(1) miss a big job opportunity that you've been waiting for and may never come again, or (2) make the move and set aside a great season.
This is why we'll see a coach occasionally do the unthinkable and leave before the CFP. We've already seen it.
