SO Reggie White is the new DC?

belowpar, not sure if you would know this, but is there typically anything in an assistant's contract that would cause the timing of their dismissal to affect their compensation?
That is, does it matter if they leave a team before a bowl, right after a bowl, after signing day, etc?
I will hang up and listen.

Remember what they did With Pokie Chatman's bonus? Wasn;t she paid even though she didn;t participate in the tournament?

Not bp, but the "compensation angle" is BS. Any 'bonuses' would be very small and would EASILY be made up in the severance package. That would never be the reason for the delay IF the HC decided it was the right time to move.

So, we need these coaches for this game...just interesting that he hasn't publicly announced their departure...kind of like the head coach being informed that he is not returning after the season but he can coach until the end of the season.

I suspect that some candidates are still involved with their current teams.
Remember:
Miles did not get the LSU gig until AFTER the bowl season- got Pelini
Saban did not get the Bama gig until AFTER the Bowl season - Got Steele?
Meyer didn't get the UF job until AFTER the Bowl season - (not sure if Utah DC came)
Muschamp did not go to Texas until AFTER the Bowl season.
There is NO reason to rush this.

Or, you run the risk of hiring the "available now" over the "appropriate later".
I am not against hiring quickly, if the one you want is there. But, I would wait for a Muschamp instead of rushing for a.......well......Tepper

I may be way off base, but if the next DC in line were to be offered another job, wouldn't his agent call Miles and at least let him counter? I don't think this should be a snap decision on either party.
I think Miles is smart enough to know this is a pretty good gig, high expectations, but if he has the balls/swagger his followers say he does, why would he coach somewhere with low expectations.

And if you hire fast, you definitely pass on the (arguably) better guy that you needed to wait for. Either way there are risks. But it's an attractive enough job that you don't need to sell out. And you know you're gonna get bashed by somebody no matter what you do.
