UNLV fires Arroyo

Actually a bit suprised, they won 5 games this year. Most in 10 seasons or so.

It's kind of a nice spot and there is a want to be in the PAC. I can see them trying to upgrade.

I thought maybe playing in Allegiant would help bring in some decent recruits, maybe with the right guy it could. But no one gives a shite about UNLV football. Rivalry game last Saturday and stadium was empty. Campus sucks too.

USC rising again and UCLA decent, no way they pull decent Southern California recruits for the foreseeable future. Bishop Gorman recruits never stay either.

No doubt. But being in a growing LV market, they will always have the potential assuming resources are available.

It's not in the top 20 of hardest non-independent schools. UNLV has a lot going for it. Should be much better.

No reason UNLV couldn't do what Boise does. Great location, resources, facilities, etc.

Jim Donnan to UNLV?

I figured I would ask since so many here think it's funny to toss out their fired coach's names.

Great location

Is it though? Campus kinda sucks, and its not like a 17 or 18 year can enjoy much of the city for his 1st 3 years or so of school.

I'm not saying they can't win with the right person but so many better options for a mid tier recruit within a 4-5 hour radius. SDSU being one.

I think a lot of people forget this when talking about Vegas and the UNLV job. Most players aren't 21 yet.

No, he was the one after the Gorman coach. He was OC at Oregon before UNLV.

Multiple reasons they can't. Boise has been winning consistently, which built that fanbase, going all the way back to when they were a juco in the 40s. Boise is the show in town because they're in fricking Idaho. UNLV hasn't won in 40 years, has no fanbase, and UNLV football is like 100000000th on the list of importance in Vegas.

I am too considering how bad UNLV have been, but they really should have been bowl eligible after their fast start to the season.

Losing to a dogshit Hawaii team to cap off a 6 game losing streak was likely the final nail in his coffin.

Orgeron would jump at an opportunity to coach in Vegas. Would make a great reality tv show.

UNLV had some potentially good QB transfers that just never panned out.

They better have an upgrade at least on paper in mind because the program has clearly made progress from the cellar in 3 years.
