Sources tell FootballScoop that Louisiana Monroe has Bryant Vincent lined up as their top choice for their head coaching opening. No deal is in place, and final clearances still need happen, but Vincent is the leader, sources share. Ross Dellenger first reported the interest in Vincent. Vincent is the former offensive coordinator at UAB. He took over the program as interim head coach for the 2022 season following the June resignation of Bill Clark.

As coordinator, Vincent led a turnaround this season of New Mexico’s offense.

Nah, poor ULM. Suffered through the guy as an OC at South Alabama. He’s terrible.

Just curious, why?

New Mexico was unquestionably the worst offense in FBS last year, but improved by 185 YPG and 14 PPG this year. That's a pretty respectable jump in production. UAB was also successful when he went back.

Some people at AZ State would say they suffered through Napier as an OC, and look what he did to a Cajuns program that I don’t know if they had ever received votes for Top 25 prior to him. He had them in the Top 25 for two of his four seasons.

I think he could be a good get for ULM, especially when you look at what NM State has done, and he actually did coach UAB to a 7-6 season prior, when their head coach retired right before the season.

I wouldn’t mind if our program upgraded to him from our current head coach situation.

UAB would have been better off retaining Vincent than hiring Trent Dilfer. It may be one of the worst coaching hires of all time.

The Dilfer hire might rank higher than nixing the Jimbo hire way back when and actually voting to shutdown the football program in the list of worst moves made by the university of Alabama system to harm UAB football.

Well, he will only be there 2 years. Maybe can get a job at Waterfront to supplement his salary with tips.

not the excitement i was hoping for but seems solid enough to be patient with him. he did lead UAB to a bowl which is more than any previous hire the last decade or so sans barry can say.

Berry, not Barry.
But Collins killed this program a few years back and it never recovered. I’m talking about Pat and Mike.

Press conference Wednesday afternoon. I don't know if it's Vincent but somebody signed.

Shutting down the program was the best thing that ever happened to UAB. It got a lot of their fans to stop saying "I'm going to donate if/when..." to actually put their money behind the program for the first time.

It won't make any difference. ULM is ULM. Hate to say that about my alma mater but facts are facts.
