No , you were the one who says that kids would automatically take an offer from a TG led Auburn over schools like USC and the like.

Because he's a good, young coach who shows emotion and knows how to win. Most kids like to play for coaches like that.

quote:

In my view, you look at this thing from a racial standpoint. I was calling you guys out for that because I can't understand how you could think that unless you believe that kids would line up to play for him because he is a black man.

Go back through this thread and see who has brought up race the most times. I think that will tell you who is using it as a crutch in this argument.

quote:

Don't tell me anything about waiting a few years for that to happen, because TG would have to win pretty big in that meantime to build his reputatation up to compete with those schools.

And who's to say he wouldn't win big? I would certainly prefer him to a guy with BCS conference experience who won 5 games in 2 years and currently has a 10-game losing streak including getting the shite kicked out of him by Baylor.

The only reason Buffalo was even in that title game was because the rest of the MAC East sucked arse this year.

OK, that's fine, but they were 1-10 the year before Gill, 2-10 in Gill's first year. To go from that to even 7-5 is amazing at Buffalo. Its a low level MAC school in NW NY state, there ain't a whole lot of talent in up state NY or NE in general. How in the hell someone recruits kids to go to Buffalo is beyond me, its got to be all more or less local kids.
quote:

Why everyone thinks Gill should be moved into the upper echelon of coaches is beyond me

Well, he has done a very good job at what looks like a dead end.

What exactly have Czick or Lane Kiffin done to move into the upper echelon of coaches.

ooo, ooo!

I got dibs on the term Chris Rockne for this subject.

and if I wanna crown him, I'll crown him!

They didnt have to, but they should have. Gill is the better coach, plain and simple.

all of your answers are generic and fricking weak. I brought up race because whether or not you say it, I think that it's a factor in YOUR thought process. I could dig up tons of names of coaches resumes who look better than TG's. Coaches like that who don't have a gig like Auburn and i'm sure quite a few that were passed up in favor of coaches with lesser resumes. How many UB games did you people watch his year, anyway.

put down the meth, son.

or do you honestly think that if Gill were hired at Vandy instead of Bobby Johnson he'd have at least one SEC title by now?

Because the two situations aren't the same.

If AU had hired a good coach then this thread wouldn't be here. If Pelini was the coach at Auburn, or Charlie Strong, or Art Briles, or Leach, or frick 30 other people no one would care.

People care because Aubs passed up a good coach for a shitty one.

Sort of like your, "It's only cuz he's black!!" answers?

No, you bring it up because you are obsessed with it. No one else in this thread seems to be but you.

And Gene Chizik's wouldn't be one of them.

Apparently more than you did.

They are definitely not the same. Turner Gill is a former player for the school and has true ties to the program and had been a head coach for a few years already. I agree that there were a few coaches out there that would've been better choices for AU. Some were never involved in the search and maybe they were turned down by a few. M. Leach was the only sure shot, the rest I believe were a crapshoot. I'll never know if TG was the best choice until he gets his shot.

This thread says Turner Gill. It is filled with posts about Turner Gill.Where are the posts about the other fish that AU let off the hook? It has been tossed around a bit that he was passed over because he is black. Shoot me because I brought up that I noticed that you sort of believe reverse of that. That he should have been hired because he is black. I don't think you wathed any UB games. I really don't.

tell me what is so good about this. which of these did you watch?

and Bo had ties to the program too, were they as strong? No, but they were there.

Plus at the time Gill hadn't won the MAC. At the time Bo was one of the hottest names in the country, who had produced a number of good Ds.

Some? Chizik is a fricking horrible hire. Hiring Coach O would have been a better move.

Hmmm...interesting point, Sertorius. Does Gill, or any other coach for that matter, have better head coaching experience as a head coach? Should Gill be serving as a coordinator before taking the reins at a larger and more prominent school? I say no. I think he's ready to be head coach.

You don't understand how much I want you to be right. I'm not against you here.

I din't mean there were only a few better candidates than Chizic. No, there were many. There are for every coaching change.

He's a fantastic coach and motivator. I think bringing a program from the depths of obscurity is more impressive than winning a title with a shite load of talent.

Could you honestly say that Les would build that program to what it is now?

Auburn is absolutely foolish for not hiring him. I'm drinking the race kool aid in this one. Absolutely idiotic hire on their part.

"People care because Aubs passed up a good coach for a shitty one"

Says a kid that knows jack shite about a coaching search at any level....

AU is a major player in college athletic's and just football revenues probably top 30 or 40 million a year. If you believe for a second that the AD, boosters, and fans at AU didn't want the guy that they BELIEVE is the best for there program then you're a fricking moron and should just stop pretending to know anything about sports.

Absolutely 0 people that have anything to do with AU athletics want to see there cashcow football program lose a game much less 6 or 7 games and the money attached to those loses.

If they thought TG was the guy to get them back to the promised land he would have been the guy, they believe that TG still has a little bit to learn before he's ready to take the reins of there program obviously and he will get his shot to prove them wrong soon enough. The AU athletic Dept couldn't give a shite less if he was orange, blue, black, white, or green if they thought he would win a championship he would have been hired.

Which is why AU fans have booed Jay Jacobs and Chizik and many are talking about not supporter Lowder's bank. They do want the best guy for their program.

That guy is obviously not Chizik.

And Tha U, Washington, WVU, and aTm didn't want to lose money or games either. All of them made fricking horrible decisions when it comes to coaching also.

How many times have I made this out be a race thing?

If it was a race thing I would have insisted Nebraska was racist too, yet I didn't because they made the smart decision for them while AU made the stupid decision for them.
