You were in High School, let's keep that in mind. Wonder what the nightlife is like in Ames, Iowa?

Fail.
Ames population 50,000
Buffalo population 1,100,000

I believe you, but I didn't watch that much. Don't worry, like this thread Turner Gill will be forgotten until someone snatches him up. I wish I would've put a schedule up there that didn't have the TV network it was on. Just in case you were lying.

We will have to agree to disagree about how good a resume we both think TG has. We both hope the guy gets his shot though. I'd love to see the results at the school who chooses him.

How's that a "fail"?

As bad of a shithole that Buffalo is, I believe that with those numbers it may be easier to attract recruits. There has to be more to do in a city of that size compared to AMES, IA. As a matter of fact, the landscape in AMes is probably not as interesting as in upstate New York. I'm sure it's not.

The Temple game came was on CST. It was the game where Buffalo threw the hail mary at the end to win. It was an early game and it was either that or the Big 10 and I hate Big 10 football.

The others were all on strange nights where they were the only games on. The Akron game was pretty damn awesome.

I am I missing something? Did Gill get some kind of major college offer? Last I checked his resume was as good or better than Chizik or Lane Kiffen. Kiffin got the job because of his Dad and nobody knows how or why Chizik got the Auburn job? Gill has not gotten any other job yet. Your criticism is going in the wrong direction. Isn't he still the Buffalo Head Coach? Looks like he will have to prove himself at a lower type program (such as Syracuse caliber job for example). This is the caliber of where Kiffen should be. This caliber of a program is where Chizik fell on his face.

They may or may not have been right at the time but there was NO evidence to support it being a bad hire at the time it was made. Now AFTER the fact it's easy to say "see I told you it was bad from the start"

No evidence? If you didn't think there was evidence to support Bil Stewart maxing out his potential as a positional coach then you are delsional.

Point in the records being they were 2 games different in there first 2 years.... ISU plays in the Big-12 against Kansas St, Neb, and Missouri. Buff plays in the MAC, I would say it's a little harder to win in the Big-12 then it is in the MAC against the slober knockers of Temple, Army, and Western Mich.

BCS schools face tougher competition, but you also have bigger fanbases, better facilities, more money, and easier recruit.

ISU won 4 games in 06 before GC so it wasn't like they were in the thick of things before he got there.

4, 3, 2, ?

Anyone want to fill in that last number?

They had 7+ wins in

00
01
02
04
05

That's not fricking bad. However Chizik has them at an amazing 2 wins this year.

You're still missing the point, I'm NOT saying the GC was the best hire and I'm NOT saying that TG was the worst hire.... But it certainly wasn't a lock and no brainer for AU to hire TG either.

It had to be nothing Chizik has done shows success at a major college level, which us the knock on TG. TG on the other hand has at least had success as a HC at a lower level.

He was already turned down by Syracuse. They just didn't get any heat for it like Auburn did.

Again they didn't hire Chizik either. I don't think Marrone will work out for them, but at least he brings the NFL pop and zip to the program to the program.

chizik brings nothing.

I don’t care if Gill is black, yellow, or orange. Winning at Buffalo is damn hard, and he turned them from the absolute worst team in FBS to a conference champion. You know what happens to young guys in the MAC who win conference titles? They get better jobs.

Now, it would be unusual for a guy to jump from the MAC to the SEC. Usually, there’s an intermediate step (SEE Meyer, Urban). But if Auburn was gonna go out and hire a crappy coach, why not at least hire a question mark that will get you good press? Chizik is a miserable hire. I honestly don’t believe Gill is ready to go to the SEC, but I’m 100% positive Chizik isn’t.

While I guess I am on the side of Turner Gill on this argument, I must say that I am pretty excited about Miles going against Chizick for the next few years
