Similarly to New Orleans, you need to have some sort of New Orleans ties on staff, and if he is the head coach I think he would do an amazing job

If I were the AD, I would consider two people: Frank Wilson and Ed Orgeron.
Seriously.

Why should he leave his weekend? Finish the season. Recent Auburn coaches have come from Liberty and Arkansas State; oh and Iowa State with a losing record. Morris is even more ridiculous – rushing for Oklahoma State? they can wait.
Anyway, here are the likely names I absolutely don’t want.
Napier.
Any sitting sunbelt coach except for Chesney
Need organization and Discipline.

7-11 at mcneese was not horrible given his hand down there. Did you watch any of that wacky arse Covid schedule? Barely beat a d2 school. They did besr northwestern stste, but a high school team could have that year. And nichols. I wouldn’t say the program was in good shape before frank got there.

Look at the last two coaches Tulane hired and seriously ask yourself why Tulane would hire a shite head coach.

Tulane went with the 'recruiter' as head coach with Curtis Johnson and he failed fricking miserably.

I'm guessing you are either ignorant, a troll or Fletcher Mackel.

Agree completely that Frank is not a viable option for Tulane. This is currently a top 3-5 G5 job at this point. Last 2 coaches have won a lot of games and are (presumably in Sumrall’s case) going to get solid P4 gigs. It’s an attractive job for either a “2nd chance” guy like Napier or a legitimate up and comer.

I think any of Baker, Dawson, or Faulkner would great hires. All good at X’s and O’s, have learned under established coaches that recruit well, manage a program, etc.

Yes they do, unfortunately they are so limited in how they can upgrade. They have no room to expand and there is a building code for height restriction. Will be interesting if and when they do upgrade, how they will navigate that.

I would not know the guy if he knocked on my front door and punched me in the mouth but Buster Faulkner is an awesome name. A warrior poet on par with William Wallace. He coaches the Wave, makes the playoffs 3 times with one surprise win and they’ll rename the stadium for him.

Frank was a glorified bag man before NIL was legal.

He's not relevant going forward and neither will be Trooper Taylor.

I think they need to use their recent success to try and get into the big 12 and bring on baker.

Tulane needs to continue hiring mercenaries who want to GTFO as quickly as possible

There may not be an obvious top candidate like Sumrall, but I would target whatever top end G5 coach is available (if there are any this cycle)

Charles Huff should be plan A.

Along with other sitting HC’s from the lower levels like Bob Chesney etc.

Then you get into coordinators. Schumann, Baker, Faulkner

I actually trust Tulane to make a good hire these days. Too much money is at stake and a possible ACC invite

While he has a losing record as a coach I would look at Sean Lewis at San Diego St. I could see Cal or UCLA looking at him.

What I like about Tulane’s list is they are willing to look at potential coaching talent in their candidates and not obsess over name-brand favorite hcs.

Tulane's football program has positioned itself in the past five years where they don't need to take retreads.

Our last two hires were not exactly 'splash' names.

I know there was some hype when Toledo was hired because of his success at Ucla and then fans thought Curtis Johnson was going to be a slam dunk because of his alleged recruiting prowess.

This isn't the best year to hire a coach for a school like Tulane but we are top 3 in NIL money in the conference and we pay our coaches pretty well (around 3 million a year).
