This reads like the coaching search version of the silent commit which usually ends with "he wanted to be a tiger, but..."

would you all rather they not give you information that they hear?

To be fair look at Rutgers program for 50 years before him. He took one of the worst D1 programs in America and made them a consistent winner.
that simply isnt true.

the coach there for 4 years in front of him was bad, but other than that he was right in line with every other coach they've ever had. actually there are 14 names on this list, and 10 of them had a better record than he did.

Put a solid agent, recruiter or negotiator in the room with Cp and O or Shoop for that matter and you would have had the deal done in under 2 hours This whole thing says nothing but we have two over paid men who cannot negotiate correctly.

I was hoping that this was why Miles' agent was "helping."

I think you missed the Rutgers part. Rutgers!
do people hear "Rutgers" and think its like Vanderbilt or something? its not. Rutgers is massive, more than twice the size of LSU (65,000 students vs 30,000), with a yearly budget of 3.6 BILLION dollars. they field 27 varsity teams compared to 21 at LSU.

people think we have an advantage over other SEC schools because there's no in-state rival, but that advantage is even more dramatic for Rutgers in New Jersey. theres not even another La Tech or ULL level program. theres Rutgers, Princeton, and Monmoth, who is FCS. in a state with 9 million people (compared to 4.6 in Louisiana).

the state has talent, they have a nice enough stadium, and its literally the birthplace of college football. it actually sounds like a great job for a head coach, like a relatively easy turnaround.

Rutgers was horrific when Schiano took over. Shea literally ran the program into the ground.

Taking his entire record doesn't paint the correct picture when compared to Rutgers' entire program.

You are talking about a program that did not have consecutive seasons with winning records for 25 years (1980-2005).

Having 4 terrible seasons, followed by 6 very good seasons (by Rutgers' standards) is not the same as going 6-6 every year.

He was HC at Rutgers. Doesn't really say anything about his abilities as a DC. Look at Muschamp...

No, he was HC at Rutgers from 2001-2011.

He was DC at Miami in 1999 (12th in ppg allowed) and 2000 (5th in ppg allowed)

...I don't know enough about him to say whether I'll like him as our DC or not, but I haven't seen anything presented here about his record that leads me to believe he's not a decent good. Try harder.

From the Advocate:
"Shoop, 48, was not offered the job during the meeting with Miles, but he was not ruled out, two sources closes to the coach told The Advocate. Shoop was pressured by Penn State coach James Franklin during this week-long dance with the Tigers, multiple sources say."
