as a head coach maybe, but he would be a solid dc
based on what? hes never done anything of note at any place he's ever been. his last DC job was at miami in 99 and 2000. he was there a total of 18 months. he had Ed Reed, Dan Morgan, and Phillip Buchanon, among others. they were 17th in total defense in 99 (301 ypg) and 34th in 2000 (334 ypg).

then he went to rutgers for 11 years. he never won the big east. he tied for 2nd twice and finished 3rd once. he won 10 games once. these are his best seasons. in the big east.

this is what I mean by "worthless", and by "beyond worthless" i mean that hes also a complete prick who people seem to genuinely hate.

Dont care about his attitude.

Sounds like he had pretty good defenses at miami. How were his defenses at rutgers?

To be fair look at Rutgers program for 50 years before him. He took one of the worst D1 programs in America and made them a consistent winner.

you will when the entire team turns against him like Tampa Bay did

34th with 3 first rounders, in a terrible conference, sounds good to you?

I think you missed the Rutgers part. Rutgers!

Wasn't Miami in the Big East then, in their most recent hayday?

He did some special things at Rutgers. Rutgers!

Miles has interviewed more than a dozen candidates. Wants current DC's and from outside LSU. Close to picking his guy and the names have been heavily guarded & "worth the wait".

Sounds consistent with what Shoop said. Miles wanted him to wait to see if he is hire but was too risky for him.

I'm glad someone said this. Rutgers was abysmal and that's being nice.
