Those that want a change at OC - that means you want a different system right?

Because that’s what you’re going to get.
You’ll never get a decent OC here if the expectation is for him to not run HIS offense.
So I’m assuming you’re tired of this system, is that correct?
Do you remember what it was like all the years before? The amount of uncertainty from week to week as to how we were going to score enough points?
Now it’s just a matter of having the quality players we need available for each game. Myles Brennan would have made all the difference in the world. The full playbook could have been utilized.
Yeah, I know, week 1 against Miss St sucked and put a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.
I really think most of y’all who want a change got insanely spoiled in a short amount of time with the 2019 performance.

I, personally, don’t think we need a new system. It’s unfortunate how much hate E has gotten because he truly has done a phenomenal job. Too many people see a dropped ball, or a covered WR or a stuffed run and just assume that the reason that play didn’t work was because of the OC calling that play to begin with... and when Defense sucks and we lose games, every single offensive play that doesn’t work perfectly is used as a reason to blame the OC for us not winning.
But the truth is that SOMETIMES, players frick up, And defenders win their battles, and defensive coaches win THEIR battles... so it’s important to know what you’re talking about. I feel like I’ve watched close enough to see that E’s done a good job of setting a standard for offensive performance.
It’s just simply time to move on to THE guy that’s going to have that extra edge. That extra “sense” for calling plays. That extra passion for recruiting and seeing young people succeed.
As far as their system goes, it needs to be based on fundamentals and needs to be multiple. We need to be able to spread it out and let it fly all night, OR dot the I and run through the competition.
Someone like Sarkisian. Watching the SEC championship game I saw offensive principles from about 3 different decades and from multiple different “systems”. And that’s how you win championships (plural). You get the guys that understand football from all angles and aren’t too prideful to switch it up when the time calls for it.

I think people want the Brady/Burrow system. E tolerated it in '19, but never fully embraced it.
There are young OC candidates who know this type of offence inside and out. But they are not likely to be well-known names.
O should ask Burrow and Brady who the rising young Spread/RPO coaches are. They are in that loop. They will know offhand, or will know who to ask.
Too many old retreads out there looking for a 7-figure payday. Need new blood.

Tbh this is the only OC change I’ll support. Not that it matters.

I think you promote Calloway and then go get DJ Mangus, Brady’s right hand and analyst in Carolina, then get a good oline coach.

This is an advantage of looking at Callaway. The playbook would certainly change a bit, but the continuity in terminology and just the structure of the offense would help. Players would be able to focus on learning new wrinkles and improving their games, rather than learning a new offense from the ground up.
I think you hire Callaway because he’s a talented guy who’s time has come here. The continuity is just a side benefit.

Minus the timely play calling & attention to detail, yea

I agree. And let him sit in on any interviews with O when they replace Linehan and possibly Cregg. O still gets final say, but give Callaway some input.

And zero creativity in the run game. No thanks

Lots of people run the rpo system to some degree. We need a guy like that. We will not get monken from army, a guy who runs the classic option, power I etc. yes let him run his offense but that’s not saying it will be a drastic change.

The recruiting has sucked, and the players are NOT being coached up. What possible reason is there to keep him? Joe and Clyde made the 2019 line look better then it really was.

And minus Clyde.
How many runs last year that Clyde made yards on were stuffed this year with lesser players? Execution and talent means something.

you are aware there are multiple ways to run basically the same system.

With Brennan the 2020 offense was a less efficient version of 2019 but still really good. Without Brennan it was a dumbed down version of the 2019 offense because you had two true freshman QB’s throwing to mostly freshman WR’s behind a terrible offensive line and it was good for the majority of the year.

The full playbook wasn’t utilized in the first three games with MB. No running game, no RPO, didn’t attack the middle of the field, no bunch formations and combo routes. It was SE rolling the pocket away from the blitz, passing routes outside the hash, only middle routes were deep Seams to TM. 9-39 on 3rd, and shite RZ offense.
I want an OC that doesn’t need a PGC to play wet nurse to him by having to call 3rd down and RZ.
I want an OC to run his system, know how to scheme, not only other teams but to scheme around LSUs weaknesses.
I want an OC that can make in game adjustments.
I want an OC that’s innovative and doesn’t struggle with Play calling.

This is the best possible scenario, imho. It’s become very obvious that Brady was the architect of the 2019 offense and SE was just the face. Calloway played a significant role in what Brady implemented and bringing in Mangus just solidifies the concept even further.
